Our client is a consulting engineering firm specializing in the design, engineering, and commissioning of mission-critical infrastructure systems. Their team provides mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering services for complex facilities including telecommunications sites, data centers, cable network hubs, and other critical operational environments where system reliability is essential.
Projects involve the design and implementation of mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems such as cooling plants, power distribution systems, environmental control systems, and life safety systems that support continuous facility operations.
Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for initiating, managing, and completing engineering projects from concept through construction and commissioning. This position oversees all aspects of mechanical system design and construction coordination, ensuring projects meet technical, budgetary, and schedule objectives.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will manage multiple projects simultaneously and work closely with clients, contractors, and internal engineering teams. The role includes participation in project meetings, technical coordination, and periodic site visits to support construction activities.
Travel is required as part of the role, and the engineer may be expected to visit construction sites regularly during active project phases.
Responsibilities
Manage engineering and construction projects from concept through completion.
Develop, monitor, and maintain engineering standards, quality, and operational efficiency across project teams.
Coordinate with project owners, contractors, and internal engineering staff throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct project meetings and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
ssist with construction administration activities including field inspections, submittal reviews, and coordination during installation.
Identify and respond to departmental needs to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
Support development of engineering standards, training initiatives, and staffing requirements aligned with organizational goals.
Promote engineering services to existing clients while maintaining ongoing project relationships.
Identify and initiate contact with potential new clients consistent with company values and business objectives.
Prepare project proposals, budgets, and cost estimates for engineering and construction projects.
Produce and review engineering design packages, construction documents, and bid documentation.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and performance to ensure successful delivery. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred with current NCEES record
Minimum 10 years of experience in consulting engineering or HVAC construction environments
Working knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE, and related building codes
Experience designing HVAC systems for commercial and industrial applications Experience with:

Trane Tracer or comparable building automation systems Technical Competencies:
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of mechanical building systems and construction processes, particularly within critical HVAC environments.
