Summary/Objective
The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and/or CNC lathes to produce precision parts that meet quality and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes according to work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers.
Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
Monitor machine operation to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
Perform in-process inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Make minor machine adjustments and offsets as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies.
Document production data and report any issues to supervision.
Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Previous experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
Basic knowledge of machining practices, tooling, and materials.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
