07/2004 to 12/2011 – QUALITY ASSURANCE CHEMIST, STANDBY QUALITY MANAGER

Perform chemical analyses to insure quality of the finished product prior to shipment with 100% accuracy rating. Inspect shipping containers and semi-truck trailers to insure that the product is shipped in food grade trailers achieving 100% goal. Performs internal food safety audits and participates as a member of the Food Safety Team which resulted in Superior rating in all food safety third party audits. Train newly hired employees in Food Safety, HACCP and Hazard Communication as well as update and present HazCom refresher annually for current employees, approximately 120 employees. Review and update Cargill-Salt, St. Clair HACCP Plan annually. Write and validate laboratory SOPs. Plant representative for all federal, state and customer surveillance audits and certifications, approximately 20 audits per year. Developed quality and procedure manual for food safety audits and updated annually.

Implemented the procedure of recording the calibration of pH meter, the procedure for daily examination and retention of magnet retain samples, monthly sensory testing of the products and production of all reagents used in the laboratory in log books for verification and validation for food safety audits and good laboratory practices inspections. Created and implemented “Cargill Flavors and Sensory Training” to Cargill Salt QA Group to not only meet but exceed customer expectations.

Established and chaired the Customer Incident Team which meets weekly for the investigation and permanent resolution of all customer complaints concerning the quality of products produced or shipped from the facility which achieved 0 repeat incidences. Chaired monthly proactive and lessons learned cross functional team to reduce customer incidences. (These multi-discipline teams consist of personnel from the facility including but not limited to senior management members, operations and truck loading personnel). Perform community service as a member of the St. Clair Cargill Cares Committee.

Promoted and designated as a SAP Super User Tester for the Plan to Produce/Quality Management Implementation of Wave Two of the Cargill Tartan Project. Responsibilities consisted of the testing of the product system and training of end users during the implementation of the Systems, Application and Products or SAP computer system. Localized training and job aids for Quality Inspections in SAP. Coordinated the localization and production of job aid books for the production floor and the management team of the facility. Achieved successful launch and implementation of full SAP system across 23 Cargill facilities.

10/2001 to 05/2004 - LABORATORY PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST/CHEMIST, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

Responsible for procurement process of laboratory services under the START contract for EPA START Region 5, including the shipment of sample containers to the sampling sites, verification of sample receipt, act as liaison between the project managers and the laboratories achieving 100% of all target short term and long term goals within allotted financial target.

Perform project-management achieving 100% on time target and budget goal requirements across multiple projects. Perform onsite sampling and analysis of samples using field chemistry analytical methodology.

Assisted in the Anthrax Chlorine Dioxide Fumigation of the US Post office in Trenton, New Jersey in October 03. Participated as an emergency responder in the Operation River City Exercise. (This was a joint exercise that simulated a mock terrorist attack scenario in Louisville, Kentucky in November 03 with the EPA, Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security as well as state and local emergency agencies. Participated in space shuttle search, identification, contamination analysis, collection and clean up. Performed onsite sampling and analysis of samples using field chemistry analytical methodology for large PCB removal project in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. 1/92 to 8/2001 - LABORATORY SECTION SUPERVISOR/TRAINING SUPERVISOR

Responsible for the testing and analysis of samples brought to Environmental Testing Lab, including samples for BOD, CBOD, Chlorine, Chlorophyll’s, Chloride, Cyanide, COD, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Fluoride, Flashpoint, Fixed Solids, Hydrogen Sulfide, Hydrocarbons, Oils and Grease, MBAS/Surfactants, MLSS, MLVSS, VSS, TSS, Total Solids, Ortho Phosphate, Ammonia and Specific Oxygen Uptake Ratio based on EPA method audit guidelines and inspection standards which resulted in annual revenues if greater than $1,000,000. Coordinated samples brought to Lab by patrons which resulted in the accurate and timely entry into the computer system, assignment, completion and analysis reporting of all samples with 99.5% on time delivery. Manage the execution, control and maintenance for Chain of Custody documents for all lab samples, while maintaining 100% accuracy. Refined testing and streamlined procedures for Chlorophyll Analysis and implemented quality assurance steps to meet and exceed EPA guidelines.
