Fusion is an NDS Set top box software product developed by NDS R&D sites in UK, Israel, France and India addressing a wide range of profile from the basic zapping box up to a HD hybrid PVR Home Network connected Set top box. It is a componentised layered architecture comprising of

• Fusion – OS, digital TV operating system, containing POSIX subset OS, including File System and IP stack, and CDI (digital TV drivers)

• Fusion Middleware containing pure native components that offer functionalities common to all middleware implementations(CAS,PVR,…..)

• Fusion TV & Interactive applications comprising of either downloaded or resident applications

Development of following components:

• SIM (Service Information Management): The Service Information Management component is intended to provide a consistent interface to service information within the Middleware services layer of the Fusion software architecture. It will allow multiple SI data to be processed concurrently within the STB, and provide applications easy access to this data.

• SFM (Section Filter Management): The SFM component is responsible for filtering and managing MPEG private section information in the STB.

• SDM (Software Download Management): The Software Download Management / NDS component is responsible for management of the background software download and writing the software image into the Flash.
