A position that will allow me to use Geographic Information Systems and/or Remote Sensing data in order to analyze and solve real world problems and allow me to feel that my work is helping people live better lives.

Skills

• Proficient in applications of Microsoft Office including: Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Pagemaker, and Access

• Knowledge of and familiarity with ERSI and Integraph GIS applications including ArcGIS9.x, ArcGIS 8.x, ArcView, GeoMedia Pro as well as older versions of ArcInfo. Limited experience on ArcGIS10

• Some knowledge of ENVI Remote Sensing applications.

• Comfortable in PC or MAC environments, and some experience with Unix.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

• Leadership skills acquired from Boy Scouting as well as classes and experiences.

Work Experience

GIS Technician, Department of Planning and Development, Santa Clara County, San Jose, CA

Use GIS to produce analytical maps for use during Planning Commission hearings. Produce analytical maps for LAFCO in regards for the potential incorporation of an area of the county. Produce analytical maps for the Airport Land Use Commission for our county’s airports. Import and georeference old mylar zoning maps and other large scale maps. Use these images to recreate the data digitally in the GIS environment. Create and maintain an atlas of the county zoning designations. Several other mapping and analytical duties as assigned. Use Content Web Managing software in order to help update and maintain the departmental website. (10/06-present)

My duties include processing transfer deeds and assisting the public with questions about re-assessable transfers. I must determine if the transfer being processed is exempt from being re-assessed, and if so, for what reason.
