01/1994 – 01/2010. Senior Technical Specialist, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Provided the mechanical expertise in five new product introductions. The first was a new cylinder head assembly line that was purchased from Japan for the introduction of a new 4-valve cylinder head. The later four were on two different engine block lines ranging in scope from $2.5 million to $33 million dollars with installation time frames that ranged from 2 weeks to four - 8 week shutdowns that ran a course of two years. On all of these projects, I worked with both designers of product and designers of equipment to build in efficiency, endurance, quality, while at the same time reduce costs. Responsibilities included purchasing the equipment, hiring contractors, managing the installations and also forecasting and managing capital dollars. During the installation phase, I often personally managed over 100 contractors and plant maintenance technicians. All projects were installed ahead of schedule and below budget. All equipment met quality standards and many manufacturing line improvements were built into the projects. After each project completion, line efficiency was increased on average by 8% and NCM was reduced by an average of 20%.

09/1987 – 01/1994. Maintenance Manager, Engine Block Line.

I managed 10 maintenance engineers and 30 technicians and was responsible for all preventive & predictive maintenance, equipment upgrades, installations, and general maintenance activity on two automated engine block transfer lines; operating on a three shift, seven-day week work schedule. Our equipment breakdowns were held at 5% or less of total run time. Responsible for administering a $3.2 million dollar a year budget, spare parts activity, and planning & scheduling of all work. During the course of this position, I managed within budget every year and provided maintenance services that yielded equipment uptime of over 95%.

06/1985 – 09/1987. Technical Specialist, Special Projects Group.

Hand picked by an Executive Director to be part of an elite group to solve complicated plant problems, reduce operating costs, upgrading equipment, and installation of machinery. As part of this group, my assignments were the development of a $1.8 million dollar engine up fit system, a $2.6 million dollar block line upgrade program, implementing various manufacturing control programs, preventive maintenance, and SPC plant wide. I was also responsible for managing the redesign and modification of numerous pieces of equipment that had been troublesome since installation. All projects were completed on time, within budget, and with the desired result.

The company was just beginning a start up phase at my arrival. I was involved in managing the installation, de-bugging, and capability run off of an engine block transfer line.

When we began production operations, I became involved in operator training and developing support systems such as spare parts inventory, preventive maintenance, and maintenance procedures.
