Objective: Work with a talented group of individuals to create new product ideas and solutions and to evolve existing products with continuous improvements.
Experience: KUKA Robotics Corp, Sterling Heights, Michigan December 2011 – Present Senior Design Engineer
• Design and engineering of new tooling components and technologies for the automotive and aerospace industries.
• Engineering and design of automotive tooling and assembly components for various manufacturers utilizing Catia-V5, SolidWorks and AutoCAD modeling software.
Experience: Innovative Technologies, Macomb, Michigan August 2008 – November 2011 Lead Designer / Lead Engineer
• Designed a high speed catamaran powerboat for military use incorporating threat level 3A ballistic armament capability with advanced composites.
• Developed the first generation of a new internal combustion engine design with very high HP/weight ratio in stock form, approx. 300HP/240LBS.
Experience: Sunsation Powerboats, Algonac, Michigan May 2001 – August 2008 Lead Designer / Lead Engineer
• Designed and engineered Award Winning offshore powerboat designs and components for the marine and racing industry.
• Created technologies including Aft Ventilated Hull Designs with improvements in ride-quality, handling, performance, and safety with stepped hulls.
• Introduced and managed CAD/3D Solid modeling and CNC machining capabilities in-house for prototype and production components, designed all components and systems used throughout the entire product line.
• Responsible for entire platform design and engineering from styling, fit, finish, prototype thru to production of all systems including electrical, mechanical, power-train, hydraulics, hydrodynamic, aerodynamic and ergonomics.
• Created new ideas and production components almost daily with minimal lead times and zero warranty.
• Created in-mold details and technologies for time savings on production build schedules, improving precision and overall product quality.
• Introduced PLC controls into various boat models along with multiplexed system layout and functionality.
• Created electro-mechanical, electro-pneumatic, electro-hydraulic components and assemblies for the marine industry with specialty systems integration into a common platform with communication via multiplexed and on-board computer systems.
Innovative Marine Performance, Fraser, Michigan August 1995 – May 2001 President, Lead Designer / Lead Engineer
• Introduced a 100% reliable Electronic Fuel Injected, Supercharged, Innercooled marine engine for high speed powerboats with a zero warranty record.
• 1000 H.P., 1020 ft/lbs torque, SEFI, pump gas, 1 year warranty race engine that is still unheard of even by today’s manufacturers.
• Designed and developed bolt-on high horsepower supercharger systems for all Mercury/Mercury Racing Big Block Chevrolet Engines for 1996-2000 model year engines.
• Most popular package was for the 502 EFI Magnum engines which converted the stock 415 HP engine to 725 HP & 815 FT/lbs. of torque with a 1 year warranty, this system only added 1.5” to the front of the engine, 4.25” to the height, retained the stock width for tight twin engine set-ups.
• Designed, engineered, fabricated, CNC machined, dyno-tested and tuned these EFI engines for total reliability. Zero warranty claims.
• This system was the benchmark in the industry for the competition to learn from.
• Introduced various new products into the marine industry utilizing CAD/CAM systems and thorough testing and validation utilizing Dynamic Test Systems and Superflow engine dynamometers.
MascoTech Vehicle Operations, Auburn Hills, Michigan December 1992 – August 1995
Concept Car & Prototype Build Fabricator
• Responsible for power-train conversions for Buick Motorcar Company
• Handled 100% of the engine/power-train conversion for all series-2, 3.8L V6 supercharged engines in the Regal, LeSabre and Park Avenue Ultra platforms.
• Fabricated / machined all necessary components with production intent.
• Designed and prototyped rear-power reclining seats for Cadillac Motorcar Company.
• This project also included designing and prototyping power 4-way headrests, redundant rear radio controls, self-leveling lap-top computer tray tables.
• Thru the design and validation of this project I uncovered a structural design flaw with the vehicle, additional support structure prior to production release prevented warranty claims as well as other legal issues from possible failure.
