SUMMARY
I am an award-winning Writer, Photographer and Professional Actor commanding thirty years of diversified experience. While working as a journalist (newspaper,) I have won awards for my photography and investigative reporting. As the principal writer and on-air anchor for weekly news coverage of the Georgia Legislature, I contributed significantly to our presentation of an Emmy Award (GA) for Best Educational News Program (GPTV-ATL.) My Public Speaking ability, in addition to administratively developing member organizations, (501©3 type included requiring budget oversight,) developed in me a strong and ethical ability to communicate as a leader by becoming first an excellent team player. I am also actively involved with online internet blogging (multimedia - news, graphics, humor & social networking) as well as administering & contributing to news forums.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Freelance writer, actor; and legal assistant (with several major New York law firms; most notably Willkie Farr and Gallagher. Duties varied from deposition digesting, proofreading and various editing assignments to corporate document production and trial support.)
Program Planning & Analysis Specialist for the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Responsibilities included various aspects of faculty support to 18 different disciplines in the college with primary focus on developing non-credit Continuing Education courses. Duties also included complete development of departmental brochures (writing, editing and photography), conference and workshop development with attention to promotion and implementation using media and other communication skills, coordination of college’s Speaker’s Bureau, grantsmanship and faculty advisement.
Assistant Director of the federally funded National Coalition to Prevent Shoplifting. Responsibilities included public relations work in arranging press conferences and key meetings with national and local media, writing and editing high school instructional manuals, writing press releases, radio public service announcements, a newsletter and public speaking at conferences and workshops.
Writer, Broadcast Anchor for “The Lawmakers,” Georgia Public Television Network’s precedent-setting daily coverage of the Georgia General Assembly. Duties included on-air reporting of daily legislative events; videotape editing and writing related copy.
Managing Director & Co-Founder of The Performance Gallery, Inc. performance space, a 501(c)3 theatrical & educational performance complex in mid-town Atlanta, GA, USA. Responsible for Incorporation, publicity, grantsmanship, and educational oversight. Also, directed lived theatrical performances and arranged staged play readings in addition to teaching on-camera acting classes in the professional community.
Anchor, Principal Writer for “The Lawmakers: Weekly Review,” winner of the 1978 Emmy Award as “Best Educational” program for coverage of the Georgia General Assembly. The program also received a 1979 Ohio State Award for Excellence. Duties also included videotape editing and still photography.
Editor of the Georgia State University Signal, an award-winning weekly newspaper with a circulation of 14,000. This included management of a staff of 40 people and supervision of a $99,000 annual budget. In addition, wrote a weekly column, news and feature stories. While editor, was awarded “Best Investigative News Story” and “Best Photograph” by the Georgia Press Association.
