Work Experience
December 2007 to November 2011
Directv
Huntsville, AL
Customer Retention Agent
I am responsible for making sure Directv maintains customers, and they receive the highest
customer satisfaction. In doing so I provide customer service for an average of sixty calls per
day, answering customer inquiries, solving problems, using numerous software programs, and
providing new product information. I have to maintain up-to-date knowledge of company
policies regarding payments, agreements, and legal inquires regarding services. There is active
listening involved by reaching the root cause of any issues and directing them to the proper
department or appropriate individual. I am responsible for setting up service calls and handling
calls regarding moving services. With that, each agent is responsible for building long-term
relationships and advising customers on purchases and promotions.
October 2006 to November 2007
Charter Communications
Athens, AL
Dispatcher
I responded to general inquires from members, staff, and technicians. These responses were
communicated via e-mail, phone calls, and through two way voice control monitors. I interacted
with customers on a daily basis, monitored the amount of time techs were allowed on each job,
and completed their work orders at the end of their jobs. I stayed in touch with their supervisors
throughout the day to make sure everything was going as planned. In the event it was not, I was
responsible for implementing another strategy to complete the tasks left over. Scheduling
appointments and time frames, according to particular techs and their level of experience, were
very important in this job.
June 2004 to September 2006
Jiffy Food Store
Athens, AL
Cashier
I was responsible for several tasks at Jiffy. For instance I worked as a team member performing
cashier duties, product assistance and cleaning while providing excellent customer service. I
greeted customers entering the store to ascertain what each customer wanted or needed. I
recommended, selected and helped locate and obtain out-of–stock products based on customer
requests. I maintained up-to-date knowledge of store policies regarding payments, returns and
exchanges, computed accurate sales prices for purchase transactions, produced money orders for
customers, accurately balanced cash drawer after every shift, and prepared deposits. I
maintained a positive attitude to make customer’s shopping experiences memorable and pleasant.
Education and Training
I finished school at Athens High School with an advanced diploma. I was an officer in student
government association. I was invited to the Alabama Student Government Association to
present art work that I had prepared to represent Athens High. I was selected as a member of
America’s Outstanding High School Students. I was an active member in the SADD Program,
the German Club, the Girls’ Athletic Association, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I
maintained the A-B Honor Roll throughout my high school career. I was a varsity cheerleader
and an “A” Club member. I was part of a high school sorority, Pi Beta Sigma. Membership was
by selection. We supported several local organizations. One of my favorites was the Boys and
Girls Club. We served the children snacks when they got off the bus and from there we hit the
books. First, we would finish homework and if there were any issues in particular subjects we
made sure the students were 100% before we wrapped up the educational part of the day. After
that, we would play games, watch movies, etc. until their parents picked them up.
I have received technology training through workshops and classes. Being familiar with
numerous programs, enables me to easily transfer knowledge from one program to another.
I attended the University of Alabama from 2000-2004. I was majoring in public relations with a
minor in computer science. I had to take a medical leave. I have not completed my degree. I
intend to begin completion of my degree on-line. While at the University, I was a member of Phi
Mu Sorority. I was the freshman philanthropic chairperson for my sorority.
Community Involvement
I am a life-long resident of Athens. This community is very important to me. I am the daughter
of Janet and Ronnie Poole, who have worked for Athens City Schools over thirty-seven years.
My parents instilled making right choices by teaching correct principles. They provided me with
opportunities to make a difference. I continue to volunteer for many organizations.
I am an active member of Athens League. It is a social organization dedicated to civic
endeavors. Organizations, such as, Athens City Schools, Limestone County Child Advocacy
Group, Athens-Limestone Hospital, Hospice of Limestone County, and Limestone County
Habitat for Humanity, benefit from Athena League donations. I participate in fundraising efforts
by solicitation of monies and speaking to organizations.
I have participated in Limestone County Polk Salet. It is an annual event to promote Limestone
County Council on Aging.
I volunteer with the Limestone County Chili Challenge. The proceeds from this event are the
sole local resource for the Limestone County Hospice Program.
While I was a student at the University of Alabama, I was the philanthropic chairperson for
Phi Mu. I worked with John Croyle to arrange activities for the children at Big Oak Ranch.
