PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2007 - 2009 EPC Project Manager, Turbine Air Systems, Houston, TX

Manufacturer of engineered package skid mounted central cooling and heating plants for inlet cooling on gas turbine power generation plants, combination heat-cool-power generation plants, and commercial installations.

Provide assistance to the Proposal Department in developing construction cost interface for the installation contractor on-site.

Define and issue Request for Quote to contractors, award bid to qualifying contractor(s), and manage multiple contractors on-site. Successfully managed turnkey projects out of state concurrently.

Manage the preliminary design process as it pertains to the solicitation of bids from installation contractors and other suppliers.

Provide guidance to sales and proposal teams for the fine-tuning of the project scope and pre-award budgets.

Responsible for holding project turnover meeting for transition from sales to execution team.

Responsible for following consistent and repeatable project management standardized procedures and processes, and achieving financial results on assigned projects with minimal supervision.

Serve as customer interface for engineering, delivery, and construction issues, and ensure clear definitions of project scope of work, customer specifications, schedule and appropriate budget control.

Serve as primary focal point for project written and verbal communication between company, the customer and contractors.

Analyze financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems and manage risk. Investigate solutions and establish any required project recovery plans.

Work closely with the Master Scheduler in determining the project cradle-to-grave schedule and work with project team to ensure schedule is maintained.

Interact with suppliers on all scope, commercial, and schedule issues.

Responsible for orchestrating the internal resources needed for project execution (i.e. Materials Management, Document Control, QA/QC, Fabrication, Engineering, logistics and After Market)

Conduct periodic project budget reviews and prepare forecasts to completion for upper management.

Solicit and review project specific accounting data for budget analysis and forecasting purposes.

Serve as liaison to fabrication on all project issues with the client.

Coordinate payment issues to maximize our leverage between payments to our installation contractors and suppliers and invoicing to the customer to ensure positive cash flow. Protect against creep of the project scope, and solicit project change orders as required.

Expedite project closeout and release of project retainage.

Responsible for holding specific project lessons learned meetings in order to keep project teams informed of engineering and manufacturing changes that will increase bottom line project margin.

2002 - 2007 Director of Mechanical Engineering, PBK Architects, Houston, TX

Architectural Firm/Consulting Engineering -MEP Division

Directly hired and managed a team of 4 engineers/designers primarily working with educational K-12 facilities.

Schedule meetings with clients and engineering team to determine and clarify project expectations and engineering requirements.

Report to upper management on specific project goals and time lines in order to meet client expectations and budget requirements.

Visit sites for coordination meetings, system integration issues and client questions during construction and commissioning.

Develop departmental Division 15 Specifications and engineering standards.

Manage and oversee all project engineering.

Issue monthly reports covering manpower utilization, and key project status updates to upper management.

Prepare annual engineering budget, departmental goals, and projected staff utilization.

1994 - 2002 Senior HVAC Designer/Project Manager, CHP and Associates, Houston, TX

Consulting Engineering Firm-MEP

Senior Designer/Project Manager and direct coordinator with principle client on the following projects:

35 story 850,000 square-foot Anadarko Petroleum World Headquarters building which included a primary/secondary central cooling and heating plant, trading floors, and data center and cafeteria spaces.

40 story 900,000 square-foot Reliant Tower building which included an energy transfer station (ETS) for chilled water from Northwind Houston, trading floors, data center and tunnel cafeteria spaces with air scrubbers.

Compaq Corporation Expansion Project which was a 10 story 500,000 square-foot office space with energy transfer station (ETS) from campus loop, 200,000 square-foot conference/cafeteria spaces with restaurant exhaust and air scrubbers.

Moody Gardens Site Utilities Upgrade which included primary/secondary low temp chilled water system that provided chilled water via underground chilled water piping to each facility on campus, and included 65 ice banks to aid in peak load shedding and backup for the aquarium and a medium-temperature central heating system producing 240-degree water with blending stations at each building.

Moody Gardens Aquarium Glycol Cooling Loop for low temp Penguin Exhibit.

Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL) for NASA. This project included converting an existing McDonnell Douglas air floor assembly building into a 6 million gallon enclosed pool for neutral buoyancy space shuttle assembly facility, and required expansion of an existing central plant and air handlers.

Prepared extensive field studies to ensure integration with existing plant and space which included steam risers, chilled water/hot water risers, clean steam generator and riser, TB isolation area, operation suites and smoke control, requiring extensive field studies to ensure integration with campus utilities.

A 100k and 10k clean room facility for Alcon Surgical which included a central plant with chilled water storage for peak load shedding and back-up.

1991 - 1994 Senior HVAC Designer, CCRD Partners, Houston, TX

Consulting Engineering Firm-MEP

Designer on laboratory projects, medium security prisons, and various renovation projects including preparation of extensive field studies for systems engineering.

1987 - 1991 Senior HVAC Designer, Air Permeator Manufacturing Inc., Paterson, NJ

Consulting Engineering/Manufacturing Firm-MEP

Primary project designer, installer and fabricator.

Designed large industrial ventilation and knitting mill projects (5-50k CFM), including electronic/pneumatic controls.

Designed spray coil steam heating humidification air units under the Air Permeator Manufacturing label. Procured all materials for production of air units, control systems and fabrication of duct.

Designed control systems for manufactured air units.

Managed installation teams in state and out of state.

Projects included underground shooting ranges, industrial warehouse ventilation, humidification control in paper printing mills and knitting mills.
