Projects Main Project
Experimental comparison of power output from a tracked and non-tracked photo voltaic cell.
Description
A solar panel receives the most sunlight when it is perpendicular to sun’s rays, but the sunlight direction changes regularly with changing weather. Currently, most solar panels are fixed. In order to increase the unit area illumination of sunlight on solar panels, following steps were implemented: -
Designed a solar tracking system.
The design mechanism allows the panel to perform approximate 3-dimensional (3D) hemispheroidal rotation to track the sun’s movement and improve the overall power generation.
Successfully observed a 30% gain in overall power output compared to the Non Tracking Photo Voltaic Cell.
Currently employed: -
Caterpillar Inc. in Aurora, working since November 2010.
Job title: -Quality Technician
Responsibilities: -Quality assurance of machine parts of Compactors, Hydraulic Excavators, Material Handlers & Wheel Loaders.
Job Description: - Ultra Sound testing is the main method adopted for the Quality assurance of these parts. The testing is done by using Omni Scan MX Phased array Machine. The inspection is done on welded joints to detect the presence of weld discontinuities like porosity, inclusion, undercut, etc.
The main machine components checked here in the aurora are:-
Booms & Sticks of models 336, 345 & 349 for Hydraulic Excavators.
Buckets of 992&988 for the wheel Loaders.
Lift arms for the models 966,972&980 of Wheel Loaders.
