Hello,
I have a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree and have studied art literally all my
life. My grandfather was a painter, photographer and graphic artist and got
me involved in art by the time I was 5. I've been a graphic and web
designer and illustrator for over 20 years. I now work freelance as well as
paint. My work is currently in Adams Galleries in Naples, FL.
I was the star of my public school art classes through junior and senior
high school and thankfully at that time, art was a supported class and I
was exposed to many areas of art including ceramics, batik, painting,
printmaking. I attended the Houston Museum of Fine Art scholarship class
which was cancelled long before Glassell. In college I majored in paint but
also took classes in etching, pottery, and drawing. After college I've
explored other media such as block printing, screen printing on paper as
well as clothing (I owned a t-shirt printing business many years ago),
scratchboard. I grew up painting in oil but now my passion is acrylic.
Many years ago I was a Girl Scout leader and taught girls from age 5 to 9
many crafts. While at Compaq, I was a Junior Achievement volunteer and
taught the program to 7th graders, 8th graders and high school seniors. I
began getting a Texas teaching certificate just before schools started
laying off teachers. I didn't complete the program but do have a letter
granting me eligibility to teach Art EC-12 in Texas schools.
