Summary:

Over 30 years on projects related in heavy industrial construction, design, engineering, quality control, and commissioning. Emphasis on executing explosion proof electrical installations in areas of power distribution, PLC I/O, controls, instrumentation and vendor packaged equipment. Have worked in all preliminary phases including design, estimating, scheduling, tool, and manpower analysis.

History:

02/12-05/12 E. Sam Jones Master Electricians License on record for lighting retrofit at Eastern KY Correctional Facility in West Liberty, KY

Verification of installations, grounding, and terminations. A broken wrist took me out of the game.

03/09-11/10 CB&I Lead I&E QC/Superintendent on an LNG unloading and re-gasification plant in Sabine Pass, TX.

Wrote ITPs for construction with client rep. collaboration.

Inspecting 230kv switchyard, air switches, gas breakers, 35kv secondary and switchgear.

Moved down stream through six substations covering transformers, MCCs and UPS power.

Inspected cable tray, and conduit installations.

Found serious issues with cable pulls, nicked jackets bends in armored cable exceeding specifications.

Inspected instrument locations, and tubing installations.

I was asked to step up and take over as Superintendent, to complete Phase I construction, and to help with client confidence on a fast track.

04/07-01/08 Industrial Specialty Co I&E QC on a cryogenics plant in Opal, WY

Performed construction surveillance

Inspected cable tray and raceway installations prior to cable pulls and tail-ins.

Verified terminations, and torques.

Confirmed proper instrument locations, and tubing installations i.e., elevations, high/low pressure side, liquid or gas.

Due to the rising copper prices and a slow down in construction I found a niche in energy savings retrofits changing out magnetic ballasts with electronics.

09/02-08/03 AKI Controls Foreman on an LNG re-gasification facility in Lusby, MD

Installed cable tray, conduit, cable pulls for 5kv, 480v, and controls for numerous pieces of equipment associated with an on sight nitrogen plant.

Took over a 500,000 gallon LNG storage tank re-pulling cable drops, re-terminating instruments.

Completed all Emergency Shut Down controls.

Installed all lighting and outlets for Class I Div I and Div II areas

11/00-12/01 Process Engineering & Design Designer/E&I Project Manager on a natural gas storage facility for the city of Portland, OR

Sized conduit and cable against voltage drop, and ambient temperature.

Using vendor drawings developed IFC drawings for controls, valves, and I/O points associated with a Rolls Royce turbine driving a compressor for delivery of gas to the city of Portland, OR.

Managed the installation of the Instrumentation and Electrical controls heading off change orders while developing termination points with the programming engineer.

09/99-10/00 SKC Electric Project Manager/Estimator helped establish an industrial division with a commercial contractor in Lenexa, KS

I was recruited by Southern Kansas City Electric for a gasoline storage facility project due to my expertise in explosion proof electrical installations.

Created a library of industrial assemblies for their Conest Estimating Program.

Worked closely with estimators, with their new assemblies.

01/95-09/99 Pacific Industrial Electric I&E Superintendent retroed several natural gas compressor stations in North Dakota, and Wyoming. Removed reciprocating engines and replaced with turbines while keeping compressor station online.

Demoed cable and conduit associated with individual compressor coming off line.

Re-install all power, controls and instrumentation to new turbine power plants.

Installed conduit and controls in yard valves, (MOVs) and adjusted limits

Installed 120VDC back-up system

Complete point to point checkout and start-up followed by 100 hour run.
