Waukegan, IL 60085 *******@*****.***

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Two years of experience with Mechanical Control Systems and Vibration Analysis

Extensive background in Matlab and Simulink programming.

Two years experience with PLC, HMI and motion control programming.

EXPERIENCE:

• Yaskawa America Inc, Waukegan, IL

Engineering Co-op, Jan 2011 – Present

Provide application support for motion controllers/servo products and variable frequency drives. Assist large OEMs and group distributors with motion programming and control. Testing of new release firmware and motion software. My work also includes programming HMIs, communications and technical support.

Certifications: VFD Application Programming, Servo amplifier Application programming and tuning

• Missouri S&T Mechanical Dept, Rolla, MO

Graduate Research Assistant, Aug 2008 – Dec 2010

Demonstrated the working of an atomic force microscope with a new technique called trajectory shaping of the drive signals to increase the sensitivity. My work included modeling and simulation of the vibration characteristics of a micro cantilever using MATLAB and Simulink and experimental validation of the new technique that we developed. Modeled the system dynamics of micro/nano systems and dealt with latest data acquisition systems and instrumentation.

• Missouri S&T Mechanical Dept, Rolla, MO

Graduate Teaching Assistant, Jan 2009 – May 2010

My position as a teaching assistant was to supervise the Control systems laboratory where I assist students in PLC programming (Ladder Logic) and Labview programming. The PLC used in the lab was Fanuc 90-30 with Proficy software package.

• Missouri S&T Mechanical Dept, Rolla, MO

PLC Hands on Training, Feb – 2010

Learnt the basics of programmable logic controllers, coding for Allen Bradley PLCs (Ladder Logic) and wiring PLCs with different I/O devices.

EDUCATION:

• Missouri University of Science and Technology, December 2010

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, GPA – 3.667/4.0

Major: Mechanical Control Systems

Courses: Mechatronics, Digital Control, Linear Control Systems, Vibrations, Principles of Computer Aided Design, Advanced Decision and Control and Applied Computational Methods.

• B M S College of Engineering, June 2008

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, GPA – 4.0/4.0

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Courses: Automotive Engg, Introduction to Control systems, Machine Design, Operations Management, Theory of Machines, Elasticity and Plasticity, Manufacturing processes and Fluid machinery.

PATENTS AND PUBLICATIONS:

• “Bi-Harmonic Atomic Force Microscopy”, Patent Pending (USA)

• “Measurement Sensitivity in Bi-Harmonic Atomic Force Microscopy”, IFAC, Mechatronics, 2010.

• “Measurement Sensitivity improvement in Bi-Harmonic Atomic Force Microscopy”, Review of Scientific Instruments, 2011.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Matlab, Simulink, Labview, PLC Programming (IEC 61131), NX5, Ansys, MS Office, Maple, Spin Programming

PROJECTS:

Missouri S&T

• Principles of Computer Aided Design – To design and model a bicycle using wood as the frame and to establish the advantages over the conventional ones. The modeling and analysis of certain parts was done using NX5 package.

• Mechatronics – To design a prototype of a microcontroller manufacturing system which can do basic operations such as stamping, brushing and cutting. The prototype involved a cart mechanism to move a wax block which undergoes the stamping operation. Parallax microcontrollers were used which were programmed using Spin language. The entire circuitry involved was done as a printed circuit board using basic etching technique.

• Advanced Decision and Control – To develop a model for the tip sample interactions in an atomic force microscope using optimal tracking techniques. The interactions are estimated indirectly by measuring the amplitude of the cantilever.
