To obtain a position in the field of Recreation and Tourism Management
*Highland Hall Waldorf School February 2010-present
My job as an ASC (After School Care) Coordinator is to make sure the kids are properly supervised and are having a good time. Some of my daily duties include making sure all the kids are signed in and out, serving snack, and organizing fun and interactive games to play with the entire lower school (1st-5th). Help with homework for grades 1-8 is also something not included in my job description but was more than willing to help with. Interaction with parents on a daily basis is made. The school runs up to grade 12, with responsibilities mainly supervising 1st-8th grades.
*Chatsworth Hills Academy November 2007 to June 2009
My very first job as an extended day care counselor included supervising children, encouraging outdoor play, helping the physical education coach with sports drills, and helping with homework.
*Valley Trails Summer Camp Summer 2008, Summer 2009, Summer 2010
During the Summer of 2010 I was the head counselor for a group of 3rd and 4th graders. Field trips were twice a week, some of which included the beach, hiking, and Hurricane Harbor. Daily activities were done with my group of campers in different areas at the summer camp, which included themed activities throughout the week, the imagination room, and swimming.
During the Summer of 2009 I served as head counselor for the “tweens” traveling camp. I was responsible for supervising 15-30 young teens aged 10-14 on a daily basis on different field trips such as the beach, Magic Mountain, sailing, kayaking and numerous other destinations. I also supervised overnights at the same camp at the other site located in Santa Clarita.
During the Summer of 2008 I was a roving counselor and worked with all age campers. I supervised outdoor sports and physical fitness activities as well as games and songs. I also helped supervise campers on the same field trips for the “tweens” group. I instructed a Taekwondo class once per week grades 1-5. I currently hold a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Reptacular Animals November 2009 to June 2011
North Hollywood, CA
A job that mixed in my nature side with kids. I bring animals to children’s parties and perform a little show while educating children and parents alike through useful and mostly unknown facts about exotic and every day creatures. Animals range from rodents, amphibians, and reptiles, all big and small, cute and cuddly, and creepy and crawly.
*Kids Klub Summer Camp Summer 2011, Summer 2012
I was hired as 1 of 4 Unit Head’s at Kids Klub Summer Camp. I was told I was the first person to be hired into a leadership position that did not have any previous working experience at the camp. Working as a Unit Head for the Specialty Camps section of the camp, I took 10-14 kids in a van or small bus on different field trips every day to different places depending on the themed week. Weekly themes ranged from Horse Camp to Paintball Camp to Extreme Sports Camp. Obtainment of a class B license with passenger endorsement was required for this position. Worked two weeks at the other Kids Klub location in San Gabriel/Rosemead to see the variance in how camp is run. Some field trips included a behind the scenes tour of the staples center, go karts, and overnights in Arrowhead.
* FBI and background check, TB test, and current First Aid and CPR certification were all required for these positions.
