Education: Associate in Science of Engineering Degree Program, Joliet Junior College, Joliet, IL interrupted by work demands after completing one year of studies in 1971.
Training: Additional professional training includes a two week Builders Hardware Specifying and Scheduling program conducted by Corbin/Russwin Group in Berlin CT, a one week Auburn University at Montgomery Management Seminar, nine months training with Anthony B. Cassidy and Associates in Management Skills and Time Management and many years of solid practical experience.

July 2011 Project Manager, U. S. Security Systems, Inc. Montgomery AL – Managed projects for this Detention Equipment Contractor (DEC) which provides and installs detention equipment such as hollow metal doors and frames, locks and hardware, security glass, detention furnishings and electrical equipment such as; control panels, intercoms, card readers, cameras, etc. mainly for jails, prisons and other type detention facilities. Responsibilities include interpreting plans and specifications, organizing work approach and strategy, scheduling time tables and assignments, preparing and reviewing submittals, coordinating material procurement and delivery, scheduling installation crews, documenting RFI’s and change orders. Position requires working closely with general contractors, architect, engineers and end users; a detailed knowledge of project management principles and techniques; strong accounting skills to track time, cost and preparation of monthly Pay Applications; careful attention to contract documents and quality assurance.
September 1987 to
July 1991 Project Engineering Manager, Norment Ind. Montgomery, AL – Due to the large amount of work Norment Ind. was receiving and the lack of available Project Managers with Detention equipment experience Norment made the decision to develop a Project Engineering Department which would handle all technical issues related to its detention projects. I was promoted to the position of Project Engineering Manager and was asked to develop and organize this new department. The success of this department allowed Norment Ind. to pursue Project Managers outside of the detention field. Our major responsibilities included the preparation of all in house submittals, provide technical support to all divisions of Norment Ind. and to assist the marketing department in the design and development of potential projects and offer advice to architects and other designers with regard to proper Detention Equipment usage and layout.
August 1981 to
September 1987 Project Manager, SESCO, a Division of Norment Ind. Montgomery AL – Managed major projects for this company which provides and installs detention equipment such as hollow metal doors and frames, locks and hardware, security glass, detention furnishings and electrical equipment such as; control panels, intercom, card readers, cameras, etc. mainly for all forms of detention facilities, and have personally managed turn key projects valued at over $7 million.
November 1979 to
August 1981 Route Driver Supervisor, Kaluzney Brothers Inc. Joliet, IL – Supervised thirteen drivers in the route collection of materials to be rendered and resold to the cosmetic industry. Territory included the northern half of Illinois and parts of Wisconsin and Indiana. Responsibilities included insuring customer relations, scheduling driver assignments and vacations, and personally filling in for drivers that were unavailable. Left this organization for an opportunity to rejoin the Detention Industry.
September 1977 to
November 1979 Partner/Manager, Econoclean Janitorial Service, Joliet IL – Owned half interest in this firm which provided building maintenance services to offices and stores. Company held up to twenty accounts before beginning to concentrate exclusively on area 7 – 11 stores. Performed all management functions such as sales, purchasing, bookkeeping, etc.
January 1971 to
September 1977 Project Engineer/Customer Service Representative, Folger Adam Co. Joliet IL Engineered projects for this security equipment manufacturer by preparing submittal and fabrication drawings and ordering materials for two years before being promoted to Customer Service Representative. Served in this capacity for four years, traveling throughout the eastern third of the country calling on general contractors and city, county and state officials to promote relations, expedite projects and troubleshoot problem areas. First joined this company as a draftsman, a position held for less than a year.
Military Experience From 1972 to 1978 I served six months of active duty and five and one half years inactive duty in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
Prior to 1971 Various Early Positions, Worked part time at Folger Adam in the print Room and Drafting for a year and a half while still in high school. Worked for six months as a material checker for Flour Corp. during the construction of the Mobil Oil refinery south of Joliet.
