SUMMARY
Seeking a long-term career in the field with interest in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer and Turbomachinery. My DMAIC training and Six-Sigma certification in GENERAL ELECTRIC has equipped me with a perfect approach to solve a problem in terms of both new design and existing process improvement. My professional experience of 3 years will be a great value in your industry and easily transferable to similar technology.
EDUCATION
Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
M.S., Mechanical Engineering (GPA: 4.00) March ‘12
National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka
B.Tech., Mechanical Engineering (GPA: 3.12) May ‘08
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
SALT RIVER PROJECT, Thermo-fluids & Heat Transfer Laboratory.
Research Assistant Aug ‘09 – Present
Modeled the flue gas flow, heat transfer and Selective Catalytic Reaction (SCR) inside Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) of a co-generative power plant. Successfully implemented user defined function for mass and momentum source term of ammonia injection. Also validated the results with analytical calculations of heat transfer for single-phase and two-phase flow inside Heat exchangers.
Modeled and simulated flow and heat transfer in High Pressure Superheater heat exchanger inside HRSG for transient analysis during cold start-up. Inside and outside wall temperature are obtained to address induced thermal and structural stress. Prior to transient steady state analysis was done to validate CFD and FEA methodology.
Simulations and optimization of Large-Building flow and temperature distributions for Coronado Power Generating Station using CFD tool ANSYS-Fluent.
Developed code in C for lid cavity problem with staggered grid using pressure based solver to solve the lid driven cavity problem in C and also validated the results.
GENERAL ELECTRIC, Energy, INDIA.
Technologist May ‘08 – Jul ‘09
As a part of services team, involved in developing the rule algorithms for Monitoring and Diagnostics of heavy duty gas turbine. The project involved analyzing the gas turbine data to predict its performance and diagnose anomaly in pre-mature stages to avoid sudden unit trip.
Developed rule algorithm for Bearing Metal Temperature with 80% improvement in rule accuracy.
Executed Six-Sigma quality tools to improve the accuracy of Liquid Fuel Transfer Rule to find the reliability of dual fuel gas Turbine units.
Assisted in developing the rule algorithm for Combustion Monitoring Spread and Combustion Dynamics Monitoring to detect failures in combustor, liner and nozzle for E and F class heavy duty gas turbine.
NATIONAL AEROSPACE LABORATORIES, INDIA.
Summer Research Fellow May ’07 – Aug. ‘07
Worked on “Challenges in Propeller Design for Micro Air Vehicle” and implemented the concept involved in design methodology of propeller. Designed a propeller in solid model and tested its performance in Matlab routine.
BHARAT EARTH MOVERS LIMITED, INDIA .
Intern May ’06 – Aug. ‘06
Gained expertise in Detection, Analysis & Elimination of manufacturing errors in Safety Strap a critical component used in Indian Rail Coaches. Seven basic quality control tools used to minimize critical errors in the safety accessory.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, INDIA .
Research Assistant Aug ’07 – Apr. ‘08
Analyzed engine performance, SOx & NOx emissions experimentally and theoretically leading to identification of cottonseed oil as a potential bio-fuel.
Engineered the setup, simulated a custom made IC engine and performed experiments with B-10, B-20 blends of fuel with focus on the exhaust characteristics.
