VICE PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER (Automotive & Commercial Vehicle Industries)

International VP/GM of a $150M / 650 person Business Unit with manufacturing locations in the US, UK, Mexico, China, India, SA, and Estonia. Managed complex and highly technical business consisting of 28 product families, over 800 products, and more than 1000 worldwide customers. Served as one of six Senior Leaders providing strategic direction for the entire corporation.

Global operations & manufacturing engineering overseeing 13 product families in 4 countries. Supported $90M in revenues while providing a $1M year-to-year operating profit improvement. Managed 350 employees on a 3 shift, 7 day work schedule.

• Developed, justified, and implemented automation alternatives and cost reduction programs.

• World-class product quality levels were maintained through Lean techniques, ISO 9001, Six Sigma statistical process control, DFA, and FMEA.

• One of twelve chosen from over one hundred managers for the executive mentorship program.

BUSINESS / OPERATIONS MANAGER (Telecommunications Industry) 1991 – 1996

Managed P&L and overall activities necessary to develop a new telecommunications business from conception to a profitable $20M enterprise. Directed and coordinated sales, marketing, production control, customer service, design engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance and test/systems engineering.

• Received the Operational Excellence Award for achieving zero customer returns, 100% on time delivery, four-day cycle times, and 4.7 sigma levels.

• Design and process involvement included silicon wafer development, wafer packaging, board design, through-hole technologies and surface mount technologies.

MANAGER, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING (White Goods Industry) 1990 – 1991

• Responsibilities included all management activities necessary to develop and implement state-of-the-art equipment and processes.

• Directed the activities of 24 technical personnel that included mechanical and industrial engineers, and technicians.

• Proposed and maintained a $1.5M cost center expense budget. Achieved annual cost savings of $1.2M.

SUPERVISOR, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING (White Goods Industry) 1986 – 1989

• Supervised a multi-disciplined group of engineers and technicians chartered to conceptualize, justify, design, and implement new equipment and process innovations.

PROJECT MANAGER, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING (White Goods Industry) 1985 – 1986

• Managed and implemented a $1.3M automation program that revitalized a 25-year-old product.

LEAD ENGINEER, EQUIPMENT GROUP ( Defense Industry) 1981 – 1984

• Responsibilities included the design (DFM/DFA), process planning, high precision fabrication/machining, design/ implementation of fixtures, tooling, and automated/robotic equipment for three major missile programs.
