Challenged with the task to continue improving existing manufacturing operations, directing quality initiatives to enhance the operational stature of the entire manufacturing and distribution facility and to increase the Environmental, health, safety and security performance levels.

Managed all production, quality, distribution, administration, budgeting, customer service and regulatory affairs.

Given full planning, staffing, budgeting and operating management responsibility for all manufacturing and distribution of a diverse product line, ranging from biocide agents with EPA registrations to an assortment of water treatment compounds, anti-foam agents and to a well developed maintenance chemical line.

Significant Achievements: Orchestrated changes throughout entire operation and achieved ISO-9000 and ISO R/C 14000 certification, while maintaining NSF Registrations and successfully passing multiple customer and government agency inspections and audits.

Identified targeted metrics for all functional areas and implemented changes based on observed results. Increased first time acceptable quality by 91%, reduced quality related rework to less than 1%, while maintaining a blend off rate 1.75% of production levels. and reduced customer complaints 20%

. Increased production capacity of facility by evaluating equipment and processes and making necessary capital improvements. The improvements included new storage tanks, process vessels, packaging lines and utilities. Plant capacity was increased from 23M to 40M pounds annual.

Evaluated all manufacturing processes, updated all SOP’s, tightened SPC controls to improve product quality and consistency. Trained all associates on the revised and new SOP’s and started holding all people accountable for their work performance.

Reduced annual OSHA recordable injuries by 92% through aggressively focusing on safety concerns and improving training.

Addressed raw materials inventory planning and control systems, implemented an inventory warehouse location system and retrained all employees. Effort resulted in a 20% reduction in downtime and 15% gain in operating and service efficiency.

Organized shipping warehouse to improve efficiency of daily picking operations. Efforts improved order-picking time by 46%.

Managed relationships with a union environment, and participated in 7 contract

Ashland Chemical- Drew Chemical Corporation

Challenged along with the plant manager with upgrading manufacturing facility, increasing its competitiveness and driving long-term gains in productivity, quality and efficiency. Responsibilities included annual budgeting, production planning and scheduling, employee training and regulatory compliance. Significant programs included reduction of inventories, safety improvements and the reduction of utility costs. Managed the faculty with 104 employees in a 24/7 365-day operation.

PLANT ENGINEER December 1982-August 1988

Ashland Chemical- Drew Chemical Corporation

Implemented reconstruction and improvement plans to modernize the existing manufacturing plant buildings and all utilities. The reconstruction included collaboration on the design and construction of a $1.4 million, state-of-the-art polymer production facility from basic design through construction, start-up and initial operation. Also developed and managed all annual maintenance department operating and capital budgets, oversaw governmental regulatory compliance and all environmental, health and safety programs.

PROJECT ENGINEER February 1978 -November 1982

US Filter- Drew Chemical Corporation

Ten years of project work including both capital in-house projects and customer service projects. The projects were diversified including basic equipment purchases such as copiers, to design and construction tank farms and roadwork at company sites and to the complicated design fabrication and associated documentation of customer dosing and monitoring equipment for supply to US Government and other industrial and commercial water treatment customers.
