Job title: welder/sheet metal fabricator
Job duties were as follows, the shop foreman would provide me with a shop drawing that listed the dimensions of what the customer required what material to make it out of and any other specifics regarding the job. Figuring the stretch out for the job, I would then go get the appropriate material and shear it to the size I needed. I would then punch, drill and notch if necessary. I would then have to bend the part in a hydraulic brake press in a safe manner as not to injure myself or any of my co-workers maintaining either an outside dimension or an inside dimension. (ID, OD). I would then TIG welds, MIG weld, and or arc weld if required according to the print. I would then resurface and grind if necessary. Then I would take the part to the job site and install it. I would occasionally be sent to the field to measure for a job. Then I would go back to the shop and fabricate what I needed in order to complete the job. I would also weld in the field for this company locally at places like C.P. Kelco, and the Hyatt, were I would make weld repairs as necessary on aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel.
