PROJECT AND MINI PROJECT DETAILS:

MINIPROJECT: BED SIDE ECG MONITORING:

ECG monitoring provides large amount of useful information. It is considered as a prime physiological signal. The processing of this signal yields a large amount of data regarding patient’s health status. So in critical care patients continuous ECG monitoring is preferred. Here arises the need for a bed side ECG monitoring system. The main problem regarding these kinds of systems arises from the interfering signals and artifacts. Our project deals with minimizing this artifacts and interfering noises to the maximum possible extent. For that purpose we test the feasibility of a newly designed set of filters and arrive at an optimum solution.

PROJECT DETAILS: INFUSION WARMER WITH PRESSURE BASED CONTROL SYSTEM:

Infusion warmer is used for the pre warming of blood before infusion in to a patient. Infusion warmer helps to maintain the homeostasis of the patient. Normally the blood taken from the blood bag is at a much lower temperature. So direct infusion of this blood disturbs the homeostasis.

The main criteria’s to be monitored in any infusion process are pressure and temperature. The basic infusion warmer in itself will monitor the temperature criterion. But pressure changes during infusion are not monitored. Sudden pressure changes during infusion due to chemical or metabolic reactions may be fatal as it may lead to the rupture of arteries. Small pressure variations can be alleviated by the conducting system itself. So here in our project we continuously monitors pressure and temperature and our system activates the alarm system in case of any abnormalities.
