ACADEMIC PROJECTS________________________________________

Numerical Determination of Steady State Condition (CFD), University of Southern California

• MATLAB simulation for steady flow analysis in 2-D cavity with upper wall moving at steady velocity.

• Method of solution used was Navier-Stokes equation which was divided into three steps, Convection, pressure and viscous steps.

• Adam-Bashforth method,Crank-Nicolson scheme and time discretization method were used to obtain optimum solution.

• Results were compared with simulation carried out in STAR-CCM+.

High Speed Stealth Submarine, University of Southern California

• Conceptual Design project for a submarine using principle of supercavitation.

• Calculations were done for weight, thickness and material to be used after initial design was finalized.

• Carried out design and then modeling of turbine using ProE.

• Carried out analysis using FLUENT for flow around the submarine.

Conceptual Design of a Resistojet, University of Southern California

• Undertook concept design of a resistojet acting as a tertiary booster to deliver a 90 kg microsatellite to its final orbit

• Calculated the thermal insulation, nozzle dimension, and battery size to achieve the mission objective using Hohmann transfer.

Thermodynamic properties of fluids and Ambient Conditions, Punjab Technical University

• Reviewed the effect of high ambient conditions on thermodynamic properties of fluid mixture

• Created a programme in C++ for calculating the variation in Thermodynamic properties of n-Heptane from its STP values with the change in temperature and pressure

Determination of Pressure Distribution over a symmetrical biconvex 2-D aerofoil, University of Southern California

• Compared the result obtained from Linear approximation and Shock Expansion Theory.

• Codes were written in MATLAB to determine the pressure distribution.

• It was concluded that Shock expansion theory was more accurate compared to Linear Approximation method.
