Impact Highlights: Successfully initiated and led a team from George Mason University and NOVA to create a new pathway for nursing students to achieve the ultimate goal of obtaining a BSN in 3 years. It resulted in a new model. Successfully led the implementation of a major training contract with the District of Columbia. I contributed to the writing a substantive change for SACS and NLNAC. I created a national model for distance learning. Developed an Evening/Weekend nursing program. Developed and implemented accelerated programs.

As Acting Director for Continuing Education and Workforce Development, I successfully worked with business and industry to increase course offerings, tailor programs to the clients’ needs, and develop new programs. I manage the Project Director(s) for securing grants from the local and Federal government such as CAEL – DOL. I collaborated with numerous organizations including the Work Investment Board (WIB) to provide services and submit grants. As the Acting Director, I increased revenues in tandem with controlling costs while providing quality training programs to the community. Under my leadership WDCE generated revenues from over a $300K loss to placing slightly in the black in less than one year.

Provided the leadership and management for Workforce Development and Continuing Education to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with businesses and organizations that result in revenues from healthcare education and training programs from the NVCC Medical Education Campus’ Workforce Development and Continuing Education unit. Responsible for targeting new opportunities through business-to-business marketing and produce meetings and follow-up to close opportunities and generate revenue. Key responsibilities include developing marketing strategies and implementing strategic marketing plans, prospecting for new business, scheduling and presenting capabilities to potential clients; working with existing MEC WDCE staff to maintain existing clients; administrative duties for proposal and contract preparation, and other related sales activities.

Impact Highlights: Contributed to proposal which resulted in an award of a 1.2 million dollar grant from DOL, successfully managed project directors of several grants, spearheaded outreach with surrounding counties for dual enrollment and a Bridge program for high school students, directed a primary care clinic, and planned and implement an effective strategy for nursing and allied health growth with Deans. Enrollment growth demonstrated a 100% growth from 2006 enrollment totals. Currently, as Dean of Nursing, I successfully recruited and hired an additional 14 full-time faculty, 25 adjunct faculty and staff to manage the 100% growth in the nursing program. I provided leadership for the opening of a new center for nursing and other healthcare training. Led the initiative to plan and obtain Board approval for a distance learning nursing program which was implemented January 2008. I lead the largest nursing program in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dean, Nursing and Surgical Technologies 2003-2004 – Northern Virginia Community College

Provided leadership and direction for numerous program changes preserving excellence in learning and student success. Lead twenty (20) new initiatives for the College. Served two Provosts and their campuses. Served as Building Warden for Emergency Preparedness for the Campus. Collaborated with Continuing education and workforce development in program growth that complimented academic programs.
