• Westinghouse embarked on this project to globally unify and upgrade the SAP R3 System to SAP ECC 6.0.
• The new SAP ECC system brought in the Business Warehouse which would in turn feed into BPC
• Managed and worked on the redesign and development of Planning and Consolidation Applications to move all data from Hyperion Essbase to SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) to a successful completion
• Mentored and coordinated upgrade efforts from an older version of BPC to a newer much different one. The team included SAP members as well.
• Data Analysis and a all round support of the application as well as data inconsistencies as well as new development to accommodate consolidation rule changes or incorporating new elimination rules were quite challenging sometimes as it is an OLAP cube and not an open ended system which can take changes more easily.
• BPC uses Excel as a reporting tool and is based on SSAS cubes. SQL server holds the FACT tables and SSIS packages with wrappers around them need to be maintained regularly.
• Worked to develop a few custom SSIS packages to run from BPC and also monitor the already existing custom packages that are available.
• I was able to manage the whole project along with a couple of remote resources very effectively baring time differences.
• Worked closely with the business users to integrate the custom requirements into the new BPC system
• Worked with Westinghouse Financial department to perform and analyze monthly and quarter end closings
• Worked with various products like Hyperion Financial Management and Financial Data Management all from the Oracle Suite of products
• Involved in fine tuning Hyperion Financial Management to quickly and effectively merge data and produce extracts needed for further analysis.
• Developed and maintained reports in Hyperion Enterprise Reporting
• Interacted with Westinghouse users on regular basis

• Firm Reporting Layer
This is a suite of small applications which churn out reports to enable the users during the month end and quarter end process. The basis of the Reporting Layer is a Transactional Module where data is entered by the users pertaining to Fund Activities and movements. The other entities involved along with Fund are the Deal, Investor/Partnership, Investment, and Security. The application also maintains the Organization Structure and the Reporting Structure to make Profit and Loss calculations at different levels of the Structure on the basis of the Firm to the Fund investments or vice versa. Few of the calculation engines that make up the Reporting Engine are:
Non-Mark: To calculate the market value of investments not marked for market i.e. private.
Lead Sheet: To calculate the market value of Public Securities pertaining to each deal involved of every fund in the system.
Capital Statements: Firm Statements in the form of reports which show the Realized/Unrealized and the OID (Original Issuer Discounts) if any with respect to a certain Fund and investor partnership
Fin46 Rule: This is a normal rule of consolidation when varied interests take part in an investment. It is an Accounting Rule and the rules which were defined by the users.
General Ledger: The General Ledger expense data is imported into the FRL system using a windows service and the data finally appears on Financial Reports. This is also loaded into Essbase cubes to do Trend Analysis.
Financial Packages: These are a book of reports which are used to close the month end processes. The package contains sections for Revenue, Expenses, Balance Sheet and Headcount. Impacts on bonus structure, employee compensation, departmental budgets and expense allocation are also parts of the packages.
• Deal System & Security Valuation
This system is used by the users to enter share cost and valuation data for the deal entity. The information later flows into the Firm Reporting Layer
• Headcount
This is an HR transactional system where we track the numbers of headcounts per division and the number of headcounts in the pipeline to be hired. This data also is made use of in the Financial Packages.
• Fincast(Budgeting & Forecasting)
This system is in the process of rewrite as it is one of the most complicated systems. The existing system has ways to calculate various Forecasting models according to changing business speculations and standards. The system is being redesigned to use Tools like ‘Performance Point’ to run the model calculations.

Morgan Stanley – Time Tracker Systems
Time Tracker Systems are used to manage the time of employees and also the hours worked by them. There are at present IBD Optime, CS Optime and Repro Optime systems basically handling the same functionality but also diversifying into different functional aspects of the departments, which use them. All the Optimes are divided into two parts the Administrator software and the Clocking Software.
CS Optime (Admin) is basically used by the Creative Services and is a massive application having modules like Employee Management, Workflow Management, and Billing. The Employee Management deals with every aspect of an employee joining the department through Compliance, Training and Scheduling to different jobs. Workflow Management deals with the jobs, projects that the operators work on. The Bankers bring in the requests for the jobs, which are basically Publishing and Studio jobs. The Billing Module as the name suggests deals with the billing of each and every job. The jobs are invoiced against each cost centre that the request comes in from. The Clocking Software allows the user to Clock in/out for the day, take a break and print timesheets for a week. Data and Business Rules porting from legacy MS-Access databases to new Sybase data stores was an integral part of this venture.
IBD Optime is a similar to the above, but it only specializes in the Management of Employees. It has a different interface and is used by the Investment Banking Division of the Bank.
Repro Optime has an Employee Management Module, Inventory Management and the Billing Module. The software is used to track the inventory on different floors like Paper, Faxes etc. It keeps track of jobs like Printing, Faxing etc. and also the costs involved in each process.
Trade Tracking is a system meant to provide effective tracking of Bonds details for Fixed Income Bond traders. The application provides dynamic search and sort functionality. Other validations and functions were needed for the reports that were generated out of the application. Most of the reporting was done using Excel. Application gets trade data periodically from Fixed Income Division, mainframe database and then stores the data locally in a Sybase database and allows traders to manipulate various Bond related information through an intuitive web interface.
Remote Submission is an intranet web application developed for investment banking division (IBD) employees. This application accepts various printing jobs of large size documents like presentation documents, word documents and images. This application targets users located in America, Europe and Asia. Application provides highly interactive web GUI to input data and upload large size files, which can be submitted to the printing department
