Role : Application Developer

Team size : 1

Duration : April 2009 to Jan 2011

Project Description:

A lab information system (LIS) is a class of software that receives, processes, and stores information generated by medical laboratory processes. These systems often must interface with instruments and other information systems such as hospital information systems (HIS).Interface for Laboratory Analyzers is to automate the manual test selection and result entry using the Bar coding system. We have used different Bar-coding Techniques like CODE-39, CODE-128 B, CODE 128 A, CODABAR, etc. . . . To communicate with the Laboratory Analyzers we have used the Serial Ports and TCP/IP ports. The communication standards followed in this project are ASTM, HL7 and some Analyzer defined standards. For automating the process of test selection and result entry, information from both access database and Oracle database are joined. Access database is used for Interface application where as Oracle is the database used for HIS. Every analyzer uses its own protocol or the standard protocol for communication. Also the Cable configuration differs from analyzer to analyzer. These all are mentioned in Interface manual which is provided by the Manufacturer. Every new analyzer’s interface is a new task. Reading the Interface manual, understanding the Communication protocol and cable configuration is important. Then automating that through the application is the major task for Interface.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Created the database structure in MS access.

Developed procedures, triggers and functions in Oracle database.

Prepared the cables for Serial communication and TCP\IP communication.

Communicating with the COM class objects and reading the data from serial port.

Understanding the Communication method by reading the Interface manual.

Updating the Patient Test results to HIS database based on appropriate Barcode.

Saving the Quality Control data in Access database and Exporting the Quality Control data to Excel sheet.

Implementation at the client place.

Project #3 : PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System)

Environment : DOTNET, Oracle 10g

Role : Application Developer

Team size : 2

Duration : January 2010 to May 2010

Project Description:

In medical imaging, “Picture Archiving and Communication Systems(PACS) have been developed in an attempt to provide economical storage, rapid retrieval of images, access to images acquired with multiple modalities, and simultaneous access at multiple sites". Electronic images and reports are transmitted digitally via PACS; this eliminates the need to manually file, retrieve, or transport film jackets. The universal format for PACS image storage and transfer is DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). Non-image data, such as scanned documents, may be incorporated using consumer industry standard formats like PDF (Portable Document Format), once encapsulated in DICOM. A PACS consists of four major components: the imaging modalities such as CT and MRI, a secured network for the transmission of patient information, workstations for interpreting and reviewing images, and archives for the storage and retrieval of images and reports. Combined with available and emerging Web technology, PACS has the ability to deliver timely and efficient access to images, interpretations, and related data. PACS breaks down the physical and time barriers associated with traditional film-based image retrieval, distribution, and display.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Research on PACS environment, DICOM standards and Network port communication protocols.

Created architecture for PACS environment. Also prepared SRS for this Project.

Created the database structure.

Developed a windows service as a SERVER side application.

Understating and Using a Third party OCX control for developing the client side application.

Developed procedures, triggers and functions in Oracle database.
