Achievements

DEVELOPMENT OF PARAMETRIC C.N.C PROGRAMMING TEMPLATES FOR PISTONS: Achieved 50% reduction in programming time by developing expressions based parametric CNC program templates in Unigraphics NX6 for various piston configurations.

DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION OF MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR STEEL PISTONS: Achieved overall 50% reduction in manufacturing time and cost. Organized and lead a team of 4 people (machine operators, tool supplier, and materials engineer) to understand and eliminate component rejections, heat treatment process, manual machining as well as machining in multiple CNC machines and additional polishing.

DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION OF MACHINING PROCESS ON NEW MACHINE: Achieved overall 25% increase in production compared to similar capacity machines in shop. Organized and worked with a team of 5 people (programming supervisor, machine operators, shop supervisor) to study the machine capabilities, tooling requirement and employ modern practices to develop safe and optimized machining process.

OFF-SHORING NC PROGRAMMING WORK: Saved $.30Million to client and met the client’s production schedule by successfully off-loading over 8000 Hrs. of NC programming work to overseas. Developed and lead a team of 2 people by empowering, teaching and mentoring extensively on Unigraphics NX-6, compressor parts and machining processes for different CNC machines.

Responsibilities

CNC PROGRAMMING SUPPORT IN UNIGRAPHICS NX-6:

Developed CNC programs for Vertical Turning Lathes from Toshiba(Fanuc control), Sundstrand(fagor control), Giddings & Lewis(Numeripath 8000) and Horizontal lathes with live tooling from Okuma(Okuma OSP control).

Developed CNC programs for multi axis Machining Centers from Toshiba(Tosnuc control), Giddings & Lewis(Numeripath 8000), Nigata(Fanuc control), Ingersoll(Fanuc control) and Okuma(okuma OSP controls).

Worked for conversion and optimization of existing legacy as well as Unigraphics CNC programs by applying modern machining practices and advanced machining features of Unigraphics NX6.

MANUFACTURING METHODS IN ORACLE ERP:

Developed route sheets for compressor components by precisely analyzing time studies to reduce waste and rework.

Base lined the current manufacturing methods by thoroughly analyzing design intent, different stages in process and identified the gaps. Worked with shop personnel and shop supervisors in implementing detailed step by step manufacturing methods, ensuring engineering compliance in end product.

Collaborated effectively with product data group and design engineering team for issues regarding Bill of material,

item structure, drawing and manufacturing issues.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT:

Bestowed the shop floor manufacturing support by collaborating with shop supervisors, machine operators, planners and suppliers in resolving manufacturing and tooling issues, program prove-out on CNC machine, as well as suggest/ propose supplementary equipment, process and fixture development.

MODELING AND DRAFTING IN UNIGRAPHICS NX-6:

Created 3D manufacturing models and drawings for most of reciprocation compressor components as and when required to meet production requirements.

Major reciprocating compressor components for which CNC programs developed and route sheets created are cylinder, frames, piston and piston pins, cross-head, cylinder heads, distance piece, extensions, valve covers and cages.

Developed CNC programs in Unigraphics NX-4 for vertical turning and milling machines from Hillyer and Giddings & Lewis.

Eliminated manual prove-outs by validating all CNC programs using Vericut software to detect errors, potential collisions and areas of inefficiency.

Documented program procedures and best practices and developed checklists for components programmed.

Centrifugal components programmed are Diaphragms, Bulb and Box, Heads and Volutes.

Role: Design Engineer

Client: Robert Bosch LLC, Farmington Hills, MI

Developed 3D models and part drawings using Unigraphics NX4.

Developed and documented the modeling and drafting best practices and checklists to plug the potential errors.

Components modeled and drafted are structural and detail components of engine fuel modules, manifold assembly, fuel rail system and engine throttle.

Client: Nissan Motors Company, Japan

Developed CNC programming for milling machines using INCAM software.

Created the NC surfaces using Cadceus modeling software.

Components programmed are press tools for manufacturing of various panel components of car like roof, front door, backdoor, hood inner/outer, trunk lid.

Highlights: First of its kind in company. INCAM is Japanese version software.
