Public Works Department-Streets Supervisor

Overseeing all phases of public works, pavement management

Interaction with community residents and businesses for problem resolution.

New hire application reviewing, recommendations to Human Resources for potential employees, interviewing, and final new hire selection. Daily supervision of streets crews of 7-14 full time and 4 seasonal employees. Yearly performance reviews of streets operators (7-14 employees). Scheduling priorities of projects, employee assignments, parts, and equipment requisition. Worked closely with other municipalities in the town, such as Parks, Wastewater, Solid Waste, Vehicle Maintenance, Electrical, and Water.

Preparing of new and existing roadways for asphalt paving and chip seal. Grading and maintenance of existing dirt roads. Evaluation of city streets for preventative maintenance. Drainage system maintenance, trickle channels, and de-watering wells.

Built new buildings and structures for Public Works, including new brine building, shed for Solid Waste, building for yard waste employee to take shelter in. Helped convert material delivery of ice slicer mixed with salt brine to improve efficiency by 100%. Also worked with calcium chloride and non-corrosive apogee.

Responsible for snow equipment preparedness, employee assignments, emergency contingency plans. Proficient in the use of Force America electronics for tracking delivery and quantity of materials used in storm situations. Used AVL software to track equipment and personnel.

Operated a variety of equipment such as excavators, man lifts, water trucks, motor graders, bull dozers, dump trucks, front end loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, side load trash trucks, snow plows, bucket trucks, boom trucks, small rough terrain 45 ton cranes, and vacuum trucks.

Built new buildings and structures for the town including concession stands, skate parks, sound systems, pavilion, Town shooting range, wastewater plant, Public Works yard, and signal testing facility. Installed new and upgraded existing electrical for multiple projects including Town Hall, Public Works building. Responsible for setup of all Town holiday celebrations, such as New Year’s Ball Drop, Prescott Valley Days Celebration and Parade, Fourth of July Fireworks, Gold Fever Days/Fishing Tournament, Christmas Parade of Lights. These events involved major electrical wiring, equipment setup, traffic control and coordination with the Police Department to ensure public safety.
