I have worked in the Oil & Gas, petrochemical industry since leaving full time education in 1985, when in 1990 I gained my City & Guilds qualification in piping. I progressed to sitting a Masters Degree in Mechanical & Offshore Engineering and graduated in 2004. The last 15 years of my career been mainly in management/supervisory appointments, associated in the Onshore & Offshore industry, overseeing projects such as construction, refurbishment, shutdown T.A.R. and commissioning/start up. The last 8 years progressing to roles in the FEED, EPC/PMC side of projects where I think I am more suited to, as I now understand this brings the best out in me in the position I undertake.
I have a excellent understanding of project procurement, planning and scheduling, project engineering, budget control, quality control, design specification, material specification, weld procedures, P&ID, Isometric, General Arrangement Drawings, material take off’s, fabrication, installation, Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, AWS, ABS, pressure testing of piping systems to name a few. Some of the roles & responsibilities I have been accountable for have been, the assembly of formal engineering work pack’s, planning & organising of work scopes, daily reporting, onsite supervisor at all levels of supervision, supervision of contractors/sub contractors, utility trades & vendors. Highlighting what is expected on the project & the quality of workmanship required so to complete the project through planning/progress meetings, toolbox talks & project start up meetings. Ensured compliance to all Design Specification, using the correct working practises, to understand the need of method statements, risk assessments & planning to complete the project. I’m comfortable with all Leadership responsibilities & Line Management, project progress, planning, budgets, formalities & delegation of work scopes & implementation of safety when completing the work task.
I have a very strong commitment to safety with particular regard to work place hazard identification near miss reporting & any work place incidents through the many different systems used, Onshore & Offshore. I believe this to be a very important part of planning any project, worksite or work task activity. This allows it to be completed, on time, on budget & most of all safely. I am trained in many different forms of Permit systems & believe this to help me to bring the best to any project I undertake.
