Aircraft Metals Technology Journeyman
• Work with machining, welding, cutting, soldering, brazing and hand forming various types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and materials used in fabrication, modification, and repair of mechanical parts required in maintaining Air Force weapons systems and general ground support equipment.
• Use shop drawings, working sketches, and blue prints to construct working parts. Operated and maintained powered and non-powered shop equipment, such as drill presses, lathes, mills, contour and grinding machines, power saws and welding equipment.
• Use machining equipment to assembly, layout, inspect, test, file, assembly and rework machine parts, removal and replacement of broken or faulty screws, bolts and inserts.
• Use Oxyacetylene, metallic arc and gas-shielded arc welding process, principles, procedures, and techniques on metals such as aluminum and aluminum alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, stainless steel, mild steel, cobalt, and inconel used in fabrication and repair of Air Force weapon systems and equipment.
• Use technical data, Air Force, and commercial publications to perform all functions while complying with AFOSH and safety precautions.
• Use computers to input Core Automated System transactions into aircraft and equipment records.
• Train and supervise new Airmen, that came into the shop, the basics of machining and welding.
• A secret security clearance.
• Proficient use and maintenance of various hand and power tools.
• CMM experience with Mitutoyo and QC5000
