Consultant to American Express

American Express is well known in the financial services industry.

Part of the team that was responsible for moving off of the custom pre-paid card clearing system onto a new purchased system. I was responsible for designing and implementing new business systems to match the new software. When necessary, I oversaw the customization of the vendor software. I was also responsible for creating and maintaining an access database with a multi user interface, to track all the requirements the vendor needed to satisfy.

Project Manager / Employee

Managed all requests for software changes to the existing platforms. This included deciding which requests would profitable; gathering customer requirements, tracking approved projects through the software development life cycle, and following up with customers to determine satisfaction. Using VB script in MS Project, I customized the software to create instant project status for any of 100 concurrent projects.

• 2001 – 2003 NACT Provo, UT

Software Developer / Employee

Worked with a team on NACT’s flagship VoIP project. Developed H.323 trace analysis software. M3UA stack integration and product analysis.

• 2001 – 2001 TRW Albuquerque, NM

Software Developer / Employee

Worked with a team at Sandia National Labs to write custom software in Visual Basic that reads values from test equipment to determine if a part passes a quality assurance test.

• 1992 - 2001 Hebenstreit Communications Albuquerque, NM

Director of Software Development / Founder

Hebenstreit Communications was a VC funded company that specializes in providing enhanced directory assistance with call completion to the cellular phone market. Prior to funding, I was instrumental in presenting the project to venture capitalists. After funding, I directed a team that devised and implemented the data storage and retrieval systems needed to provide this service. This system was used by over 500 employees, and serviced seven major metropolitan markets. This company was the end result of the efforts of Buyers Hotline, Telemark, and Automated Information Systems described below.

For this company I:

 Demonstrated the technology to potential investors

 Attended board meetings and gave input on company direction.

 Directed a team of developers in creating all applications for providing enhanced directory assistance.

 Coordinated development efforts with the database team.

 Created a CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) application.

 Created an application to capture data and present it on the intranet.

 Used X.25 to bring in data from Telcos into our system.

 Create COM, ActiveX, and Automation modules to integrate systems.

 Worked with speech recognition to automate parts of the DA process.

 Participated in the creation of the corporate intranet.

 Developed software processes that are pending a US patent.

• 1991 – 1992 Automated Information Services Albuquerque, NM.

Vice – President Product Development / Founder

Automated Information Services created the concept of independent enhanced directory assistance in this Country. In addition to the duties of Vice-President, I was responsible for choosing the hardware and creating the software needed to provide this service. This system was the first EDA system to be successfully deployed on a PC platform. Using a 286 processor, this system was able to retrieve DA information with sub second response time.

For this company I:

 Presented the technology to cellular phone carriers.

 Tracked the growth of the company for reporting to investors.

 Created strategies for the growth of the company.

 Opened the Phoenix and Dallas / Ft. Worth markets

 Led a team of developers to create and enhance the software.

 The team innovated the ability to update the large DA database with out the need to suspend service.

• 1990 – 1991 National Educational Support Systems. Albuquerque, NM.

Director of Software Development / Investor

National Educational Support Systems Inc. specialized in educational software. Aimed at the functionally illiterate adult, the software would teach the fundamentals of reading. This was accomplished with visual and auditory responses from the computer. Through a graphical user interface, a student could see a word, hear the correct pronunciation, and was then able to compare recorded pronunciation to theirs. Several public schools across the United States still use this system today. I was responsible for brining all software development of this product an in house development team.

For this company I:

 Managed a team of developers to produce the software.

 Reduced the size of the program while increasing its functionality.

 Responsible for increasing the speed and efficiency of this application.

• 1988 - 1990 Telemark Inc. Albuquerque, NM.

Director of Product Development / Founder

Telemark Inc. was a small group of entrepreneurs that wanted to take the talking yellow page concept and introduce it to the Nation via a public offering. After funding, I was responsible for developing the products and technologies necessary to create this service on a National level. Prior to funding, I gave demonstrations and told our story to venture capital candidates.

For this company I:

 Was instrumental in developing content for the S18 application for public offering.

 Gave presentations to garner investor interest.

 Conceived of and created a host of information products needed to offer a talking yellow page service.

• 1986 - 1988 Buyers Hotline Grand Junction, CO.

Director of Product Development / Corporate Secretary / Founder

Buyer's Hotline was a company that specialized in Talking Yellow Pages. This service combined the information found in a typical yellow page book with the functionality of a computer and telephone. The idea was to have live operators take requests for information and fulfill these requests with a computerized search of the data. The innovations of this company were reported on several times in CO (Central office) magazine.

For this company I:

 Developed a business plan and presentation targeting venture capital.

 Developed first known commercial software for the talking yellow page industry to run on a personal computer.

 Modified telephone system to allow computerized dialing of listings.
