• As a Senior Optical System Design Engineer, taking up the complete responsibility in an Optical domain from Requirements to System Design, Selection of Optical materials and components & Testing/Calibration to Assembly of the System, for a range of Products designed and developed like IR & Thermal Imaging System, Machine Vision Lenses, Large format Imagery printing system (photo-write system), Aerial Imaging systems and LASER based Optical scanning system.

Industrial Training Details:

Description : As part of 2-months Industrial Training, I got good experience in the fabrication of optical components like Lenses, Prisms, Mirrors, Beam Splitters, etc. I got good hands-on experience in the sections like Conventional Optical Workshop (COWS), Modern Optical Workshop (MOWS), Thin Film (TF), and Final Assembly.
The training also provided me an opportunity to understand the assembly, testing and evaluation of various opto electronic instruments like Telescopes, Binoculars, Night Vision Devices, etc.
I was also exposed to optical System Design tools like ZEMAX and GENESEE with the knowledge I gained, I designed a Telescope with 8x magnification.

Design of Aviation Goggles:
Aviation Goggles will be used for the pilots of Helicopters and Aircrafts as an aid in the night operations.
The following are the brief specifications of the goggles designed:

Design of a Zoom Objective for Hand Held Thermal Imager (HHTI):
A continuous Zoom Objective with a zoom ratio of 1:3 was designed for HHTI. The existing objective is a stepped zoom with flip-in, flip-up mechanism.
Experience Details:
Project 1 : Fotorite System
Organization : Speck Systems Limited.
Description : Fotorite generates very high resolution outputs of 40”x40” in size. Its unique feature is its capability to directly write on photographic media and transparencies both in black & white and color, in continuous tone. These outputs facilitate image interpretation through conventional and zoom opto-electronic devices for developmental and strategic applications.
Role :
Designed the scanning optics to prove the concept of External Drum technology & Internal Drum Technology
Developed the scanning optics for different sources like Arc Lamp, Lasers & LEDs
Analyzed and rectified the problems while working to prove the concept.

Project 2 : Stereo Zoom Microscope for Aerial Photos

Description : The zoom stereoscope, as the name implies, allows the viewer to magnify, or zoom in, on areas of interest and also get depth perception, so that photo interpreters can efficiently analyze the images in greater detail.

Analyzed zoom stereoscope equipment
Modified the designing of zoom stereoscope for customer friendly
Rectified the problems in developing the zoom stereoscope
Worked on Selection of CCD and Integrated with Stereoscope.
Worked on selection of motors, intensity variation lamps and light table design.

Designed the optics of the Video Zoom Magnifier
Project 4 : Medium Format Digital Color Camera for Air Borne Applications
Organization : Speck Systems Limited
Description : The Medium format digital color camera offers an affordable entry to aerial digital image acquisition while providing all the benefits of direct digital capture over film based procedures. Aspects like data transfer rates, in-flight data storage, image archiving, geo-referencing, color fusion, calibration and preprocessing have the same influence on the economical assessment of a digital camera system.

Worked on selection of Camera lens and Sensors for high resolution image capturing.

Project 5 : Laser Bore Sight

Description : This invention relates in general to accurate sightings of targets when using rifles or pistols, and more particularly to an in-bore laser sighting system which improves the accuracy of a firearm.
