I am responsible for infrastructure and secondary installations of equipment in an underground zinc mine, as well as, installing and maintaining underground communications. Our primary infrastructure is 13,800 volts and secondary voltages of 600v and below. I handle all aspects of the installation and maintenance of all electrical components. I am trained in high voltage terminations and Hi-Pot testing equipment. I must keep detailed records of testing and maintenance to comply with federal mining regulations. I am a hand on foreman. We install substations, step down transformers, buck and boost transformers, and various other equipment.
