Personal Projects:

• Auto modification: Converted my Diesel Volkswagen to burn pure waste vegetable oil.

• Designed and built waste oil fuel farm to filter, heat, de-water and pump used vegetable oil into said car.

• Modified injectors and injection pump, boost and timing for Diesel car for greater horsepower output. Power gains far exceed

losses due to lower specific energy of vegetable oil.

• Boat modification: Engineered the union of a 300 H.P. outboard motor to a narrow-aspect ratio Trident race boat

• Senior project: Attached 6 ft. dia. wind turbine / superstructure to front of automobile to quantify performance.

• Auto modification: temporarily modified RX-7 rotary engine to run on propane to pass emissions testing.

• Combined Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engine with an Evinrude outboard shaft housing to create personal

version of a four-stroke outboard motor.

• General Electric Corporation - Greenville, SC: Lead Engineer / Technologist (Dec. ‘07 – Current)

Data Systems Engineering lead engineer for development, design and implementation of state of the art data acquisition system. Worked with several external teams to develop control rooms, test floor layout and capability. This 1.5 yr project required leading a team of 8 people and with the joint effort of several teams resulted in the successful construction and implementation of GE’s new mechanical lab. Successfully completed several wind turbine component tests which included a large gearbox test consisting of an 8000+ HP electric motor and multiple generators in series for torque loading. Worked with team to design new EMI shielded DAC cabinets for these high EMI tests – patent in progress. Currently working with a test team in GE’s combustion laboratory: supporting and improving test processes, programing with LabVIEW, researching and implementing equipment upgrades and facility modifications.

• General Electric Corporation - Greenville, SC: Lead Test Engineer (Aug. ‘04 – Nov. 07’)

Prototype validation test engineer. Responsible for world wide remote site implementation of the Gas Turbine Technology Laboratories’ largest data acquisition system (prototype power plants up to 3000 static parameters). Tasks can include all levels of test preparation including: equipment purchase, scheduling, budgets, design engineer interface, engineering and contractor supervision, direction of sensor implementation, acquisition hardware setup, remote database transfer & maintenance, equipment maintenance (calibration, troubleshooting and repair).

• Electric Boat Corporation - Groton, CT: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Feb. ‘01 – Aug. ‘04)

Research and Development test engineer. Responsible for all levels of concept and component operational

qualification / quantification prior to ship introduction. Tasks included: Estimates, test procedures / design,

fixture design, Data Acquisition and Control instrumentation selection and implementation, D.A.C. Graphical

Programming, data analysis, redesign recommendation and test reporting. D.O.D “Secret” clearance held.

Last test: Turbocharger over speed test on 1500 HP Caterpillar diesel engine, potentially used as backup generator power source.
