JDEC -Iraq/ Army Documents and Media Exploitations (DOMEX), Multiple Locations, Iraq, 2005/12/17- 2010/01/09

As a linguist assigned to the JDEC and Army DOMEX missions, I have translated documents in support of U.S. Military locations at the JDEC in Baghdad and Forward Operating Bases in Iraq. My work has been in direct support of U.S. Military Intelligence efforts, specifically in the areas of detainee operations. On a daily basis, I provide translations on documents, information from mobile devices, computer files, as well as audio and video. My extensive knowledge of Iraqi and Middle Eastern culture also allows me to make substantive translator comments that aid in further intelligence analysis. My experience and seniority in this position has also given me the responsibility of mentoring and training new linguists in this mission. I regularly serve as a reference for the proper use of IC Standard, correct vocabulary, translation process, and cultural background.

I worked for 6 months with the Iraq Survey Group (ISG) in the Triage Section of Document Exploitation at the Combined Media Processing Center (CMPC). After that time I became the quality control linguist for the night shift. As QC linguist, I was responsible for reviewing the other linguists work to look for errors, correcting them as necessary and providing remedial training and mentoring when needed. I was also assigned as the trainer for new linguists coming to work at CMPC for ISG. This duty was in addition to my regular work in DOMEX. While working at ISG I received several letters of appreciation and performance awards for my exemplary support of the work and the mission there.

1ST AD, 2ND Brigade Combat Team Bravo CO., 501ST MI Battalion, IRAQ, 2004/4/11-2004/6/12

I provided document translation in direct support of the Brigade Combat Team in both seized and distributed media. I also worked as an interpreter/translator for sources providing information to officials. I served as interpreter for the brigade commander during his meetings with the Iraqi officials and tribal leaders. Additionally, I participated in reconnaissance and screening missions.
