RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant Aug’06 - Aug’08
Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Iowa
• Evaluated the variation of a criterion result (Niyama), generated by casting simulations from various CFD software packages such as MagmaSoft, SolidCast and Fluent
• Implemented a feeding algorithm to detect shrinkage porosity in steel alloy castings using MagmaSoft and compared it with experimental results
• Investigated the use of the Niyama criterion to predict leakage in castings

Mechanical Engineering Department, J.N.T.U Jan ’06 - May ‘06
• Evaluated the efficiency of a Parabolic Solar Heat Concentrator
• Designed various machine components using AutoCAD
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
• Developed codes in Interactive Thermodynamics and Interactive Heat Transfer to incorporate implicit and explicit numerical techniques associated with conduction heat transfer.
• Studied various kinds of motion of micro organisms in fluids involving low Reynolds numbers and evaluated the forces associated with these movement patterns
• Implemented finite element methods using Mathematica and ANSYS to solve typical problems involving contact of bodies, geometric nonlinearity and asymmetric loading
