PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

DOW Chemical, Freeport TX 01/1982 – 06/2011

Emergency Services Operator (Firefighter, EMT, Hazmat, Rescue)

• Fire Fighting including structural and process for DOW. Fire fighting for neighboring industrial facilities and neighboring communities according to the DOW Mutual Aid Plan.

• Emergency Medical Services and rescue for DOW and mutual aid to neighboring industrial facilities and communities upon request according to the DOW Mutual Aid Plan.

• Hazardous material incident response including spills, gas releases, leaks and containment, cleanup if necessary.

• Sprinkler/deluge systems inspection, minor maintenance, and documentation. Interface with Fire Protection Contractor.

• Monitor smoke and heat detector panels and respond to alarms, performing minor repairs reset of local panels, and documentation.

• Installation, inspection, maintenance, repair and documentation of Fire extinguishers according to established procedures.

• Inspection, maintenance, repair and documentation of fire hydrants and fire monitors according to established procedures.

• Inspection, maintenance, repair and documentation of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, air line equipment, full face masks, and air cylinders according to established procedures.

• Inspect, document, and communicate with production facilities concerning all vessel entries.

• Maintain Personal Protective Equipment issued to individual personnel.

• Document all activities in accordance with the record keeping expectations and requirements of Dow Chemical.

Process Operator

• Monitor and control plant operations.

• Constantly review the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality,

anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for

improvement.

• Participate in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.

• Maintain adequate records of key production variables such as production volume, yield,

plant uptime, utility consumption, etc., on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, as

required.

• Participate in Quality Assurance program.

• Communicate directly with QA laboratory to ensure effective participation in the

implementation of QA policies and procedures.

• Sample and test process streams as required by the QA program and procedures.

• Maintain QA records.

• Understand and interpret QA results and takes appropriate action when required.

• Participate in plant maintenance program.

• Communicate directly with the maintenance department to coordinate maintenance and

repair work in process areas.

• Perform preventive maintenance activities as required.

• Assist maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs.

• Assist with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues.

• Participate in safety, health and environmental programs.

• Work with city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to process

operations and works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times.

• Work in a safe manner at all times.

• Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.

• Monitor use and inventories of process chemicals and supplies.
