Graduate Research Assistant

•Worked on a thesis titled “Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis for kerosene-range products using a mutlicomponent catalyst supported on coal based activated carbon ”

•The main purpose of this project which is funded by the Department of Defense (DOD) is to produce FT fuels from domestic resources (coal) that could be used in diesel engines or jet aircraft.

•Studied the effectiveness and stability of catalysts containing Fe, Cu, K and Mo supported on activated carbon based on anthracite coal for obtaining kerosene-range hydrocarbons from synthesis gas.

•Characterized catalysts using different analysis techniques (SEM-EDAX, XRD and BET surface area analysis, TPR)

•Analyzed the reaction products with multiple gas chromatographs

•Developed a statistical model around acquired data using Minitab 16 software

•Underwent training in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) rules and practiced them during the project.
