COLE HAAN, Yarmouth, ME 1992 – 2009

Applications Engineer

Planned, developed, implemented and monitored status of a wide variety of applications for a retail chain of nearly 100 stores nationwide. Interviewed clients to analyze needs and define functional requirements. Managed, data integrity, quality assurance, client training, reporting and continuing support of all applications.

-- Implemented two POS systems with additional functionality and improved interface at store registers.

-- Installed two new retail merchandising systems providing merchandisers and inventory control specialists greater efficiency in their tasks.

-- Managed SAP Business Warehouse for retail data repository and reporting.

-- Created model stock interfaces to save merchandisers one to two days per week of spreadsheet manipulation for store stock replenishment.

-- Saved merchandisers hours of data entry weekly in their initial contracts interface by automating product reservation at factories.

-- Built interfaces using third party vendor applications for other business units, including inventory control, banking, HR and payroll.

Developed application software for DeLorme’s digital mapping system. Worked with both DOS and UNIX environments, programming in C or with database applications using Oracle. Programs typically involved manipulation of geographical databases, both internally generated and provided by outside vendors and customers.

AGFA COMPUGRAPHIC CORP., Wilmington, MA 1986 – 1989

Senior Software Engineer

Worked on low cost laser typesetting system. Programming in C and assembly language, developed a process to map digital bitmapped images created by a Compugraphic scanner to commercial printers of varying resolutions. Intended for in house design by firms such as small publishers, advertising agencies or graphic designers, images needed to be scaled up or down, rotated and mapped to the print resolution of the device.

MOORE BUSINESS FORMS, Grand Island, NY 1983 – 1986

Software Engineer

Major projects included a portable graphic system allowing Moore sales representatives to design business form during sales calls at customers’ offices. Later, managed software for a high speed electrostatic printing system which inserted customer provided variable data onto preprinted business forms at speeds up to 300 feet per minute.
