U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Versar (Feb 2008 – Dec 2011) – Project Engineer

Sulaymaniyah, Iraq

Duties: Assigned and successfully oversaw the construction on multi-million dollar projects that ranged in complexity. Projects ranged on value from $9.3M to $0.86M and involved prison renovations, new building construction, water system installation, security enhancements, and a sewage lagoon system. I provided daily onsite interaction with the contractor and was a quality assurance representative for the government to ensure the work force operated safely and within the scope of the engineering plans and specifications. I coordinated, inspected and monitored assigned projects from the beginning of construction through completion. I regularly interacted with various stakeholders on behalf of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to resolve issues and continue a forward momentum on my assigned projects. In addition, I reviewed designs, submittals and contractor shop drawings for compliance with government specifications, contract drawings, and applicable rules and regulations. I documented construction issues and concerns and worked with the contractor and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to resolve these issues in a timely manner to minimize impact to the project schedule. I assisted in developing cost estimates, statements of work for modifications, and participated in negotiations with contractors. As required, I acted as a translator to translate Arabic, Kurdish, and Turkish to English.

Hangar Company (Apr 2007 – Feb 2008) - Factory Manager

Duties: Served as factory manager for a pre-engineered steel structure company. During my oversight, the company manufactured 50 Warehouse buildings, each 1000 M2 that included refrigerator and freezer facilities. Duties included ensuring manufacturing met requirements; work remained on schedule, and provided daily factory supervision.

Warzer Company (Mar 2006 – Feb 2008) - Project Manger and Quality Control Manager

Duties: Acted as Project Manager and Quality Control Manager on the construction of a new Primary Healthcare Clinic. I coordinated with the customer (US Army Corps of Engineers) on behalf of the company and ensured that the work met the contract specifications, drawings, and building codes. I ensured the project remained on schedule and coordinated resources. I was responsible for the overall project coordination with team members to prepare all related data for procurement, installation, scheduling, quality control, and construction. Worked independently on assigned project with little guidance.

ICCB - Iraqi Consultants and Construction Bureau (Aug 2005 – Mar 2006) - Quality Control

Duties: I performed the duties of Quality Control on the construction of a new Primary Healthcare Clinic. I provided daily oversight on the construction, and conducted three phase inspections to ensure the construction met the contract requirements. Three phase Quality Control inspections were conducted for each definable feature of work, and material testing was conducted with main Contractor (Parsons) and Customer (US Army Corps of Engineers) on all materials utilized on the project. All materials were verified to meet local building codes prior to use in the project.

Duties: As a site engineer, I oversaw the construction of various projects including gardens, sewer system, water system, road construction, single story buildings, and a stadium.
