EXPERIENCE:

September 1992 to date: Senior Technician, R & D: UES, INC, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH

Senior Technician, R & D: Responsible for metallography of titanium alloys, superalloys, MMC, and other various metallic materials. This also includes heat-treatment using air (tube furnace) and vacuum furnaces.

In addition, preparation of carbon composite and ‘excitable’ material for characterizing, which involved sectioning, mounting and polishing, where a polishing technique had to be created by Mr. Houston to obtain a scratch free surface for SEM and TEM.

In addition to the above, the responsibility extended to taking micro- and/or macrophotographs of high quality for publication in any resulting papers, responsible for preparing samples for the scanning electron microscope (SEM), which includes the operation of the SEM to take high-magnification images, operation of EDS, and dot mapping software.

Also, gathering of Rockwell, Brinnel, and Knoop and micro-hardness data when required.

Also, the POC of the Thermal Analysis Lab, which involves operation of TA Instruments Q600 and Q1000 DSC, DTA, TMA, and Setaram 96 Line DSC, DTA, TMA instrument.

September 1979 – September 1992: Metcut Research Associates, Inc, Metcut-Materials Research Group, WPAFB

Engineering Assistant: Same duties as above, expect for POC of the Thermal Analysis Lab.

August 1976 – September 1979: University of Cincinnati, at WPAFB

Chemist II (state classification): Responsible for metallography of titanium alloys, and developed a precision sectioning technique for fatigue specimens.

February 1976 – August 1976: Systems Research Laboratories, Inc (SRL), WPAFB

Assistant Metallurgist:

Responsible for metallography of titanium alloys, and conducting heat treatments of various alloys.

August 1975 – February 1976: Monsanto Research Corporation, WPAFB

Metallographer: Responsible for metallography of titanium alloys, superalloys, conducting heat-treatments and various mechanical testing procedures such as tensile, Charpy, and MTS. In addition to the above, setting perimeters, and operation of diffusion bonding furnace.

December 1969 – August 1975: Westinghouse Astronuclear Corporation, WPAFB

Metallograpic Laboratory Technician: Responsible for metallography of titanium alloys, superalloys, copper and various non-metallic materials. I addition to the above, assisting in the swaging, forging, and extrusion of experimental materials.

December 1968 – December 1969: Bowser-Morner Testing Laboratory, Dayton OH

Chemical Laboratory Technician: Responsible for quantitative analysis of steel casting from various foundries.

SPECIAL NOTATION: Mr. Houston has been acknowledged for assistance in the preparation of over 500 technical papers and presentations.

Also, a beta tester of software for Microsoft and declared a ‘top bug catcher’. Mr. Houston was featured on the MSN site for writing instructions for new users on how to report ‘bugs’ using DOS & FTP commands.

A beta tester for Fender Musical Instruments ‘FUSE’ software.

Also, has created video tutorials for the BOSS BR-600 and BR-800 digital recorders on Youtube.com that has over 20,000 views and is subscribed to by over 100 users.
