Worked (telecommute) for US Government Office of Personnel Management writing business rules being used to migrate large mainframe 4GL applications to server-based (Java) applications. Completed FIS (Federal Investigative Services) background check and adjudicated for employment in any Federal job except those requiring a Top Secret clearance or higher.

Generation Systems Ltd. February 2011 - April 2011

Worked (telecommute to United Kingdom) with Natural Engineer refactoring multiple applications conversion of code from earlier releases of Natural to Natural Version 4.2.6. This included modification to DDMs and Global variables to match the reverse engineered code to comply with applications and programming standards under contractual agreement about converted code.

Hachette Book Group (formerly TIME Warner Book). December 2010 - February 2011

Contracted for large a Boston publisher providing ETL support (converting Natural applications for migration to server-based system(s). Developed numerous Natural programs for streaming data to Oracle Forms. Principle focus was working with Natural 4 and Entire Connection converting Excel spreadsheets that map DDMs to system specific Natural modules. Fine tuning jobs that scan and replace incorrect/unrecognizable characters and increasing the performance of batch processing programs.

Worked with a contracting company in the initial stages of converting a Natural application to COBOL (basically debugging Natural code that did not migrate according to software decoding rules).

Conducted seminars on Natural programming development and Natural new release(s) enhancements; providing primary programming support for Natural Construct (code generator) applications (including installation of new release); worked on in house security system and ancillary work on student applications for university registrar and student admissions .

TIME Warner Book Group January 2004 – June 2004

Developed an ancillary warehouse system for a major book publisher using Natural, ADABAS. Generated batch and interactive programs to manage inventory and developed an algorithm for managing of book titles that have higher turnaround than others by increasing throughput and quicker order processing.

I helped launch a consulting and training company headquartered in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Managed technical support staff providing database technical support and served as an applications consultant with a large Boston financial institution (The Boston Company; securities and mutual funds).

I worked with as the database administrator assigned to Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I participated on a team that rebuilt the Ministry of Planning’s Computer Center Data Base. Worked with Ministry officials converting a PL/1 financial application to Natural. My last function before ending the contract was to train my successor.

Electronic Data Systems May 1980 – January 1981

I served as a database administrator for at the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy in Washington, DC establishing ADABAS as the standard EIA database at that time.

On time project delivery was achieved several times while working in many capacities for as a computer operator, programmer, project leader and Data Base Administrator. Primarily worked with COBOL and PL/1 applications conversion to Natural applications.
