Technical:

Excelled in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of both analog and digital Sonar Equipment, as well as the maintenance and emergency repairs of equipment at Ben Taub Hospital.

Skills include the ability to read and decipher schematic diagrams as well as blueprints.

The wiring and placement of control panels and boxes.

Utilized Microcomputer Software, Microsoft Suite, to create forms and write procedures and messages for the Weapons Department Head of my last command.

Supervisory and Leadership:

While Building Operator with Ben Taub Hospital, it was my job as Engineer to supervise personnel during an actual fire.

As the Engineer on Duty during Disaster drills and actual events, it was my responsibility to assume the mantle of Engineering Director and hand out assignments and messages as needed until the arrival of actual Director.

Subordinates were managed so that routine tasks were performed in a timely manner.

Supervised repairs and maintenance on Sonar Equipment by Junior Personnel and trained them in the proper procedure for maintenance.

My last year in the Navy I was sent to the Leading Petty Officer / Naval Leadership Course earning myself a potential AA in Human Behavior.

o This endeavor was started in 2007 by registering the Hidden Grotto name for our family business.

o Ordered product and acquired a space in the A-1 Flea Market.

o My main role in the store was running the day to day operations and re – ordering the products needed.

o Tracked what sold well in the store and adjusted our ordering as needed.

o Made weekly deposits into our store’s bank account and handled the financial aspect with my wife; who was the co – owner.

o Even though this project was only open on the weekends, we were working to expand the business to a daily endeavor. It was through an unfortunate turn of luck that caused us to close our doors, but not our ambition for the store.

Maintenance Technician II

o Stood the Building Operator on all shifts, including the swing / relief shift, at various times in my tenure with BTGH.

o Early in my tenure as B.O., I took it upon myself to learn the duties and procedures of the computer Operator.

o Changed room temperature both at the Control Room computers and at the FCU’s in the rooms.

o Monitored medical gas supplies and changed them out as needed.

o Monitored the essential equipment throughout the hospital that supplied the needed Control and Medical Air, as well as the Medical Vacuum system for the hospital.

o Assisted in the monthly testing of the emergency generators.

o Performed preventive maintenance on the AHU’s and FCU’s located through out the hospital, this sometimes called for the changing out of defective motors and pumps and realigning them to each other.

o Repaired electronic equipment brought down to the shop causing me to keep my troubleshooting and soldering skills current, machines included various ice machines on the floors, water fountains, and hospital beds.

o Repaired minor leaks in overhead pipes when able too, or rerouted water / shut water off to leak until actual plumbers were able to repair.

o Handled at least (4) Four emergency water breaks / leaks in the hospital, re – routing or securing piping to avoid damage to equipment or materials.

o Replaced light bulbs and fixtures in all areas of the hospital.

o Performed electrical safety checks on hospital and personal equipment.

o Responded to Fire Drills and did inspections on the fire extinguishers and fixed fire system.

o Filled out daily reports on all aspects of my shift.

o Performed basic carpentry and plumbing duties; along with journeyman level electrical wiring.

o Responded to and repaired emergencies that occurred during my shifts as well as inputting work orders on the ITMS systems when it was introduced.

o During mandated testing of our positions I scored journeyman level or better in all areas.

o Taught junior personnel how to run wires and helped them to better understand the mechanics of electronics.

o While working for this company I got a call back from BTGH and conferred with my supervisor at IEC about the position offered me before taking it.
