Corporate Technical Manager in charge of research, development and implementation of process technologies, providing support in operations for papermaking, pulping, bleaching, environmental and energy management. Develop elemental chlorine free bleaching for bagasse pulp, starting from finding applied technologies, conceptual and basic engineering, pilot and plant tests, up to feasibility study, investment of US12 Millions

Certification of manufacturing plants under environmental management standard ISO 14001, together with the development of projects to bring plants into compliance with international standards.

Reduction of manufacturing cost, improvement and development of new products through substitution of raw materials and additives with annual savings around US $500,000.

PRIMARY MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY MANAGER (1997 – 2004) – CARVAJAL PULPA Y PAPEL.

Lead the research, test planning, and technical support for adapting and implementing process technologies for manufacturing, regarding to fiber treatment, pulping, bleaching, chemical recovery, water treatment and power generation. Leading a team of eight process engineers and chemical technicians. Main achievements:

Process improvements and implementation of enzymatic bleaching and carbon dioxide washing for pulp.

Material and energy balances in fiber lines for increasing bleached pulp capacity. Basic engineering, design, selection of equipment supplier to retrofit brown stock screening and cleaning department. Basic engineering for raw bagasse washing at bagasse handling area

Feasibility studies for installing osmosis reverse process for boilers make up water. Material and energy balances to retrofit black liquor evaporator section.

PULP & RECOVERY MILL SUPERINTENDENT (1996 – 1997) - PAPELSA - Medellin, Colombia.

Hold responsibility for production of 25,000 tons of high yield pulp. Duties in planning of production and maintenance, process control, quality control targets, inventory control, manufacturing cost control, lost time analysis, production bottlenecks reduction, and EH&S.

Support to mill Superintendent at the bleached fiber line, thermo-mechanical fiber line and waste water treatment Plant. Main duties: Planning of production and plant maintenance, process control, tuning of operating parameters and process equipment, quality control, manufacturing cost control, lost time analysis, bleaching chemicals handling, lab and mill trials and material and energy balances.
