Housing Specialist Housing Opportunities - 2006-2009
As a Housing Specialist I had a client list of 325 -350 people. I would process all correspondence to the landlord and the client which included two mailings notifying them of their up coming re-certification housing inspection. Once the home was inspected pass /fail letters sent to the landlords and clients. If the home failed the inspection I would send out a second appointment letter for re-inspection once all repairs have been completed. I would gather all documents (income, letter from employer, bank statements, birth certificates etc.) and calculate the tenant’s portion of rent. I issued vouchers, drafted letters for informal hearings, conducted back ground checks on clients for recertification and held conferences with the landlords and clients. I answered the phone and returned all phone messages with in a 48 hour period. All administrative and clerical responsibilities were completed by me and all time sensitive documents were completed on time.

I floated between five properties as needed and worked primarily at two properties. I worked with senior disabled and family sites. I over looked community service requirement by HUD for our residents. I would mail out letters or post letters on doors of residents homes at the family site for community service. I kept a log of activity and completed a monthly report for HUD and the Housing Commission. I located resources for residents who needed furniture, food, transportation, I did referrals for the on site mental health clinic. I would also contact outside agencies such as the Dept of aging and disabilities, Adult protective services and any agency that might assist in the well being of the resident. I assisted residents with applications for Medicare, job applications, assisted with personal finances, budgets. I answer the phones scheduled appointments, completed annual re-certifications and processed applications. I opened a food pantry at one of the family sites through the Maryland food bank.
Equity Residential Properties 2002-2006
Leasing Director/Consultant-Mill Pond Apts, Millersville, MD 21108
As a Leasing Consultant I showed vacant apartments and leased apartments to qualified applicants. I conducted back ground checks which included criminal, credit, income and rental history. I answered a multi line phone system, scheduled appointments with vendors; checked for certificate of insurance, mailed out correspondence to residents on lease renewals, lease violations, posted rental payments, made deposits to the bank and completed monthly marketing report. Managed 48 in house section 8 units and processed all paper work. Completed move-in and move-out process, updated the computer daily and responsible for all administrative duties. I successfully leased apartments and most of the time I exceeded the amount of apartments we were challenged to lease.
