2003 - 2008

While building the new pp2 plant I was

invoved in the training of new operators. we worked very close with

the construction company building our plant. We were

very active in all pre – commissioning activities like

punching – flushing and pigging of equipment and

pipelines. Allso worked with electrical and

instumentation people to ensure all instruments

function as they should (loop checking).done all

direction and function tests with the electrical company

Attend all morning meetings discussing job activities

for the day. After construction companies jobs were

done they were removed from the plant and we

(sasol permanent employee’s started with the safe

commissioning of our new plant. We started with

pressure testing , leak checking and oxygen freeing of

all equipment , vessels and pipelines

whereafter we took in the first gas into

the system. The plant was commissioned very

safe and withen a few months we hit the production

records. I was also in charge of all hot and cold

work permits. We also did the extrusion , bagging and

dispatch of final product.

1989 till 2003

Started working at ppi after leaving aeci midlands

for a better offer at sasol. As pp2 I was also involved

in all pre commissioning and commissioning

activities. Was transferred to the new pp2 plant as

senior process controller and worked my way up

to process artisan and acting shift manager.

Started working at the midlands pp2 plant in 1985

as a senior operator. Worked myself up to chief outside

operator and acting foreman. On this plant we

produced linear low density polyethylene in a

fluidised bed reactor. After this the polymer powder

went through the extrusion process to make pellets.

We also do the bagging and dispatch of the end

product.
