Welder Repair

Maintain and support all aspects of sub-assembly welding lines using hands on and PLC’s (RS Logix 5000 with Control Logix). Troubleshoot to determine malfunctions using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Troubleshoot and repair line operations which consist of robots Nachi AR, AW, Fanuc RJ-3, RJ3IB, RJ-2 and ABB S4, by electronic instructions to a microprocessor or by setting up and adjusting sequence by hand-held teach pendant. Disassemble robots and/or equipment to repair or replace defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders servomotors, servo valves and welding systems (weld guns, air/oil, Servo guns, mig and Emhart stud/nut welders). Troubleshoot and repair Robotron, Square D, Medar weld controllers, rail transfers, lift and vision systems (Shaffy, Fanuc). I was responsible for everything from the buss line down, both electrical and mechanical on work cells. Worked on preventative maintenance and improving line speed. I was trained in the companies lockout tagout procedures. I also worked on a team based concept with my co-workers (production & skilled trades).

Troubleshoot repaired mechanical needs in all phases of plant operations- Solvent Recovery System: blower houses, radiators, charcoal beds and cooling tower.Maintenance on plant air compressors and boilers, adhesive manufacturing equipment: Banbaury mill and Industrial mixers by tearing down and rebuilding with new gears and blades. I maintained packaging equipment: box forming, box sealing (Little David) shrink wrap and pallet wrappers along with tape drying ovens (gas & electric), manual and turret slitting machines and conveyor systems. I’ve done motor and gearbox tear outs and reinstalled using dial indicator. I replaced worn and broken parts: bearings, shafts, chains, belts shives and gears. Installed new equipment and ran required piping (air, water & hydraulic), fix pumps and valves, air controls, etc., manufactured new and refurbish old parts using Bridgeport Mill, lathe, Arc Welder, Mig Welder, Oxygen /Acetylene torch and associated hand tools, drills taps, etc. I was also required to do assigned daily rounds and checks. I’ve had additional training in Hilo, manlifts, and confined space entry along with lockout tagout procedures.

While employed I earned my Journeyman’s Card in Machine Repair.
