FDM Project Design Engineer

Led design engineering effort in modification of Forming Draw Machine for producing thin sheets of glass for LCD TV screens and Computer Monitors.

• Created multiple designs, targeting automation and cost reduction of the current glass manufacturing process. Working environment -1200C

• Created and proposed several designs for the Glow bar removal mechanism and Mini-Stub rollers modification. When implemented, the design will greatly improve the safety of the FDM operators and reduce critical startup and shutdown time, ultimately reducing setup costs.

• Led the project involving addition of the laser Pyro-instrument to the FDM in Japan. The effort will ultimately result in much higher quality of glass and significant cost reductions.

• Led engineering effort to investigate and test alternative materials for Protective Tube in Auxiliary Heater assembly. The new Protective Tube I designed saves Corning Inc. $100,000 in capital investment and $8000 in additional savings per each tube order.

AUTOMATED CELLS AND EQUIPMENT, INC. Painted Post, NY 2007 – 2007

Led projects and designed Robot Cells and automated fixtures for heat treatment of components for automotive industry utilizing hi-speed conveyers, sensors and PLC controls.

• Designed and developed automated equipment for polishing components for GM and Ford.

• Developed vacuum system in the Robot Cell for polishing components.

• Managed budget and time during design and parts manufacturing process.

PAXAR, INC., Sayre, PA 2000 –2007

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for the research, design, layout, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices. Major project presented a new line of Ink Jet Printers for the apparel industry.

• Designed enclosure for the power electronic components, new cooling system for the printing head and all PC-boards. Designed new rewinder which is driven by advanced control circuitry. Latest design included a new Radio Frequency Identification Printer.

• Redesigned everyday serial printer, using print head of old design, which led to significant cost reduction for the company.

• Invented a flip-over mechanism for thermal printers allowing the ability to print on two sides of web by utilizing only one print head.

• Improved design of rotary knife to improve cutting of labels as well as enhanced clamp design for PC-boards.

• Developed unique automated Looper Machine to fold and stack labels which reduced operation cost.

• Tested and analyzed photo sensors and step motors in various printers.
