The HFA Metadata Project created an HFA Release Database which is the central area where HFA stores Release Metadata, made up of a consolidation of numerous metadata sources.

Advances operational efficiency and reduces costs by increasing HFA’s internal matching capabilities. This improves business processes that rely on the link between sound recording data provided by licensees and HFA’s composition database.

Royalties Payable (10/06 – 01/08)

The Royalties Payable project was a multi-release software reengineering effort to improve HFA’s Payment Settlement Process, the final stage of HFA’s Royalty Distribution solution.

Key goals of this successful initiative included improving the overall speed and accuracy of the payment process, consolidating the number of payable items per Check produced, which reduced the human and technical operational costs of this process.

Used an agile XP development process to create dynamic teamwork, which improved overall user acceptability of the system.

Improved defect ratios, thereby cutting 4 months off of the original estimated deployment target.

HFA Automated Royalty Process (HARP) (12/04 – 11/07)

HARP is a flexible and complex calculation engine which manages the majority of music publishing industry licensed transactions. It was designed from the ground-up to process a wide variety of accounts and input data permutations.

Designed a royalty calculation engine to improve and optimize the processing of royalty payments. Leveraged a mix of legacy and distributed technologies to attain goal.

The new engine, HARP, has shown an accuracy improvement of 80% based on License/Song payouts vs. Publisher Passthroughs.

Used a test-driven development process to create an interactive framework to ensure a quality release.

License Revenue Tracking (LRT) (01/05 – 08/07)

The LRT application is designed to provide HFA’s Licensing and Collections departments with critical information regarding releases based on sales data.

Eliminated manual process for tracking license and royalties in Licensing and Collections departments. It has reduced manual work by up to 90%.

Assembled a mixed team of employees and consultants with optimum skills for the assignment.

Coordinated requirements with business users and kept in close contact with them throughout the entire system lifecycle.

Statement Reconciliation Project (09/04 – 12/04)

Developed a new process to ensure that electronic and paper statements are reconciled payments that are produced from the HFA payment gateway solution. Features included transaction adjustments, balance forwards, and negative totals.

Involved a high degree of interaction with the publishing community, including requirements gathering, needs analysis, status reporting and user acceptance testing.

It saves publisher time on HFA electronic data and paper statements reconciliation.

Senior Programmer Analyst (12/98 – 02/03)

Worked with two team members to design and develop a system to automate the licensing of millions of songs for recorded reproduction, including a rules based decision solution to electronically agree and approve license requests.

Carried out HFA technical lead duties on licensing projects.

Worked with end-users to determine their needs and to define graphical user interfaces.
