TRANSIENT THERMAL ANALYSIS OF SPACE SHUTTLE NOZZLE USING FEA
ABSTRACT:
Space shuttle main engine nozzles are subject to heavy thermal loads ,heat flux and applies channel type regenerative cooling methods for its liquid propelled engines, we have designed bell nozzle in CAD Tool CATIA V5 and analyzed its heat transfer phenomena across its length using CAE Tool ANSYS 11.0 and suggested circumferential transport of propellant around nozzle diverging section due to its increased thermal efficiency from its former design which had longitudinal propellant flow along nozzle diverging section.
