9. Trauma Surgery Experience

a. One of the first surgeons in India to formally train in ‘Trauma Surgery’ and instrumental in designing the curriculum for FNB Trauma Surgery.

b. Coined and popularized the term ‘Holistic Trauma Care’ and being the first to operate a trauma patient from ‘Head to Toe’.

c. Extensive teaching experience in ‘Trauma Surgery’ having delivered numerous instructional lectures on various aspects of trauma care.

10. Spinal Surgery Experience:

1. Performing spinal surgery since 2000.

2. Extensive experience in Minimally Invasive Surgery and one of the first in the country to perform minimally invasive instrumentation including MITLIF, Kyphoplasty etc.

3. The first and the only surgeon of the Indian Army who is performing Scoliosis and Deformity correction surgery.

4. A large volume of experience in management of Spinal Cord Injury patients having headed one of the largest Spinal Cord Injury Center s at Military Hospital, Kirkee, Pune for three years.

5. Performed live operative sessions in many centers in ‘Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery’, notable being PGI Chandigarh.

6. Guest faculty in many instructional course lectures in spine surgery.

11. Present Appointment

One of three surgeons surgeons in Base Hospital Lucknow, where more than 3000 major orthopedic and trauma surgeries are performed per year. More than 200 spine surgeries are carried out every year.

12. Work experience:

1993-1994 Worked as Senior Registrar in Deptt of Onco-Surgery, Army Hospital, Delhi Cantt, and the largest hospital of the Indian Army.

1995-1997 Worked as a General Surgeon in high altitude hospitals of Ladakh and Kargill (13500 feet) and operated extensively on patients injured in the ongoing conflict with Pakistan.

1997-2000 Worked as a General Surgeon in a 500-bedded zonal hospital of the Indian Army (Jodhpur, Rajasthan). Did extensive work in hepato-biliary surgery with special emphasis on post cholecystectomy bile duct injuries.

2000-2001 Fellow in Trauma Surgery, Sion Hospital, Bombay, the biggest Trauma Center in India and the first in Asia.

2001-2005 Worked as Trauma and Orthopedic Surgeon and Head of Deptt of Surgery in Military Hospital, Ambala Cantt, a 700 bedded multi-specialty hospital of the Indian Army. This hospital receives more than 700 major poly-trauma cases in one year.

2005-2008 Associate Professor of Surgery in Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and Head of Spinal Cord Injury Center Military Hospital Kirkee.
